The ascent will follow along the “old road”, which is walked by devout pilgrims during the annual feast of Santa Rosalia – the patron saint of the city of Palermo. On the tour you will discover the history of the Mountain and visit the sacred cave (formerly used as the place of worship for the Phoenician goddess Tanith, which is today incorporated in the Sanctuary dedicated to Santa Rosalia). You will also visit the places where the anti-aircraft batteries of the Second World War were based – this is a beautiful panoramic spot where you can admire the Gulf of Palermo from above. We’ll then have another break, during which you can cool down and we will treat your tastebuds to some specialty street cuisine and local delicacies.
