Tour starts at 09:00 from our office in Kutaisi. Firstly, we drive up to Bagrati cathedral that overlooks the city. It was built in 11th century as a symbol of united Georgia. Afterwards we move to Gelati monastery of 12th century. There are 3 big churches, an academy, grave of David the builder, bell tower and houses of monks in the complex. It was built by the greatest Georgian King David The Builder. Then we move to Motsameta monastery that is related to story of tortured brother lords David and Constantine Mkheidze. It’s built on the cliff and is surrounded by the river from 3 sides. The nature and colors around monastery are amazing. Our tour finishes at 12:00 at the central square.

Learn about the history of the monastery, which was founded in 1106 by Davit Agmashenebeli. Admire the buildings from different times, mainly from the 12th and 13th centuries. Next, visit the Monastery of Motsameta, one of the important monuments of ancient Georgian culture. The walled monastery is built on the site of a rocky and forested mountain. Finally, visit the Bagrati Cathedral, the Assumption Cathedral, built in 1003 during the reign of Bagrat III (975-1014), in Kutaisi, on Uchimerion Hill. The monument is a landmark church in Georgian medieval church architecture, both in terms of its architectural solution and historical and symbolic significance.

The tour starts at 09:00 from our Kutaisi office. We begin with a visit to Bagrati Cathedral, an 11th-century symbol of Georgia's unity, offering stunning views of the city. Next, we head to Gelati Monastery, founded by King David the Builder in the 12th century, boasting three churches, an academy, and the tomb of David the Builder. We then proceed to Motsameta Monastery, situated dramatically on a cliff surrounded by the river, known for its captivating natural surroundings. Following this, we embark on a guided walking tour of downtown Kutaisi, learning about the history of Georgia and Kutaisi, and capturing memories at various landmarks. Our route includes Central Park, home to the Ishkhnelebi statue and the "9 April" memorial, as well as Kutaisi City Hall, the Opera House, and the Mon Plasir arch. We then visit the first gymnasium, the White Bridge, the Park of Love, and the Golden Marquee Palace before heading to the central grocery market, "Mtsvane Bazari". For lunch, we enjoy a visit to Baia's Wine, a family winery in the village of Obcha, where we explore their vineyard and wine cellar and sample a variety of wines, including Tsolikouri, Krakhuna, Aladasturi, Ojaleshi, Otskhanuri Sapere, and Chacha. We conclude with a delicious Imeretian feast prepared by Baia's mother. The tour concludes by 17:00 as we return to Kutaisi, having experienced the best of its culture, history, and cuisine.

You will explore the royal 11th-century Bagrati cathedral on Ukmerioni Hill in Kutaisi, learn about its history & enjoy panoramic views of the city; visit the Unesco-protected Gelati monastery complex, with its medieval Academy building & enjoy wall paintings & mosaics from the 12th century. Gelati was an important scientific center since the Middle Ages, and it is important today, as most of the Georgian royalty is buried there. (Please note that Gelati Monastery Complex is under construction and is open for visitors exclusively on Sundays + some occasional days. On the days when Gelati is not open, we will visit to another church in Kutaisi.) You will continue to the Motsameta monastery, another important spot for Georgian religion. We will start our journey with the highlight of our city and this is the central Bazaar. Here you can immerse yourself in Georgian culture, bargain with hospitable spice sellers, feel the real taste of churchkhela, taste homemade chacha and much more. Then we will be able to enjoy the architecture of the city center, understand the essence of Kutaisi and feel its soul. Next stop is the Motsameta Monastery. Motsameta Monastery is located in a picturesque gorge near Kutaisi. Here you can enjoy not only the architecture, but also stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. From the Motsameta Monastery, we will go to the Gelati Monastery, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a magnificent architectural structure founded in the 12th century by King David IV. The monastery is famous for its frescoes, stone carvings and cultural significance. The final point of our journey will be the mystical and mysterious Prometheus Cave, the cave itself is impressive from a geological point of view. It has beautiful stalactites and stalagmites formed over the years from limestone. Have a nice trip.
