Things to do in Moselle Valley

Take in the sights of picturesque Cochem and the Moselle Valley aboard a relaxing river cruise. As you cruise down the Moselle River, enjoy amazing views of preserved timbered houses and lush vineyards. Marvel at the majestic sight of Reichsburg Cochem, a 1,000-year-old castle with a storied past perched high above the river on a mighty rock.     Learn about the history of this small town on the banks of the Moselle in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of southwestern Germany. During your trip, the audio commentary will explain all the sights and important town historical events in both German and English.    You are welcome to enjoy snacks and drinks offered a la carte.

The 1-hour roundtrip starts and ends in Cochem right below Skagerrak Bridge at these times: 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17.30. If you want you can get off in Ernst an go back to Cochem on the next roundtrip. As you enter our impressive ship "Treis-Karden" which provides space for up to 400 passengers on three levels including a sun deck you will find a suitable seat with a nice view for you. Inside or outside. From our attentive staff you can purchase soft drinks, coffee specialities, beer and excellent wines which have grown on the mountains and hills around Cochem and moreover some snacks, cake or icecream. First the trip will take you downstream through two bridges then on your way back you get the full on-coming view on the Reichsburg (castle) Cochem. The ship glides along the river banks of Cochem where you can see the whole arrangement of houses, hotels and restaurants from the water-side underneath the castle. You will pass the steep and windy mountain Brauselay. With lots of vinyards on both side the boat comes to Ernst. Here you have the opportunity to get off the boat (just tell our staff, n/a in Winter time) and epxlore the lovely village of Ernst, with lots of opportunities to try and shop wine. There are often various festivities on weekends. The ships turns again on the same way back to Cochem where you get to see the Reichsburg Cochem form another point of view. After 1 hour you are back in Cochem where the tour started.

Embark on a boat tour on the Moselle River to soak in the sights of Koblenz. Experience the magic of Father Rhine and Mother Moselle and see where they meet at Deutsches Eck (German Corner). As the barn doors close behind you, say goodbye to the Wild Rhine and reach the gentle Moselle. Cruise along the vineyards of Güls and Winningen, the first vineyards of the Lower Moselle and the Terraced Moselle. As you take in the view of the vineyards with their steep slopes, enjoy a glass or two of wine on board (additional cost).

Koblenz cable car - an unforgettable experience over a length of 890m! Float over the Rhine on the cable car and experience unique views of a city with over 2000 years of history at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. The cable car is 100% barrier-free and runs every minute from the bottom station on Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer / near St. Kastor Basilica to the top station at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress or vice versa. During the season, we operate daily from 10:00 to at least 19:00. Enjoy the spectacular cable car ride, stroll through the magnificent fortress park, where you can experience a viewing platform, a great children's playground and an adventure golf course (possible with the cable car ticket). In addition to the cable car ride, the combo ticket offers visitors a lively cultural center with cultural and culinary delights. The historic Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and an exhilarating panoramic view await you (admission to the fortress is included in the combo ticket). You will find exciting museums and exhibitions in the historic buildings of the fortress. There are interesting things for every visitor to discover in the fortress's exhibition buildings: the history of photography, interesting facts about Rhineland-Palatinate as a wine and travel destination or archaeology on the Middle Rhine and Moselle. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, there are always new temporary exhibitions dedicated to special themes. The museums and exhibitions at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress close at 18:00. We do still whites and reds but also sparkling wine following the traditional method. What has biological diversity to do with wine growing? What influences does the soil have on wine quality? Is it possible to grow wine sustainable? Get your answers to these and more questions and delve into our family winery to learn about traditional and modern wine growing.

Embark on a day trip to Cochem aboard the MS Goldstück. After departure, cruise along the Moselle River towards Cochem. Pass through a lock that raises the boat 5-6 meters. Enjoy the wonderful views of the Moselle Valley area with quaint villages, vineyards, and castles. Admire the views of the Moselle Valley, before arriving in the charming town of Cochem. Around noon, disembark in the town of Cochem and use 2.5 hours of free time to explore the charming streets of the Old Town. Discover the market square and wander amongst the alleys and laneways, admiring the beautiful architecture of the half-timbered houses. Hike up to Cochem Reichsburg for fantastic panoramic vistas of the surrounding area, or choose to take the chairlift. Stop for a drink in one of the numerous wine bars or browse the shops for some local products, before heading back to Alken on the boat.

A guided tour of the historic Reichsburg castle in Cochem awaits you in the morning. Around midday, cast off for a boat tour on the Moselle. Board the white fleet at the Moselle promenade and glide across the Moselle. From the water, you have a wonderful view of the vineyards. Back on solid ground, head to the wine and sparkling wine cellar. Here you will receive 1 tray with 4 wines to taste for yourself. There is also 1 bottle of wine per person to take home as a gift.

Treat yourself to a glass of Moselle wine aboard the MS Moselprinz, while the mighty Reichsburg Castle towers above you on the rock and lush vineyards pass by. A live DJ provides a relaxed atmosphere with lounge music on the open deck. Sit back and enjoy the Moselle by night. Begin your cruise alongside Cochem’s old town. Find your seat on the elegant boat Moselprinz and begin your tour. Pass by the Reichsburg and Imperial Castles, and beautiful vineyards that line the hills. See some of the area's popular attractions from afar including the Moselle promenade and the chair lift up to the Pinneberg, a magnificent viewpoint that overlooks the town.

Hop onboard for a day trip from Alken/Mosel for sightseeing cruise to Koblenz /Rhine. Depart from Alken and head along the Moselle river to Koblenz. Enjoy views of old castles, terraced vineyards, forests, steep mountain slopes, and the surrounding Kobern-Gondorf and Winningen passing charming riverside scenes. After the second lock in Koblenz we arrive Koblenz and the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine. /p> Around noon, explore the Deutsches Eck (German Corner) in Koblenz home to one of the most poignant memorials to German unity in the country a taste of the historic ans enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to explore the place on your own. See several monuments dedicated to German history, such as the equestrian statue of William I, the first German Emperor, erected in 1897 in appreciation of his role in the unification of Germany. You can take the cable car over the Rhine to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress for panoramic views of the Deutsches Eck from the top. Stop by wine bars and restaurants or shop for souvenirs. 2.30 pm the ship start the return journey from the Rhine to the Moselle with the villages Winningen, Kobern, Oberfell, Kattenes, Alken, Löf and Brodenbach.

There will be stops at various vineyards owned by the winery, where you will learn lots of interesting facts about wine, winegrowing and our philosophy.
