General Patton, who died shortly after the war, was also buried there at his request. The museum is a trove of historical exhibits and objects related to the battle and to Patton’s life. Further north, next to Wiltz, you will then visit the « Schumanseck Remembrance Trail ». This trail leads in the footsteps of a decisive encounter during the Battle of the Bulge: the breach of the German encirclement of Bastogne by American troops. Then the tour will continue to the site of the old Diekirch brewery where the National Museum of Military History is located at. This museum is considered one of the best for World War II knowledge.
