The boat ride was STUNNING and the Mineral Baths DIVINE 🤩 only disappointment was that the cable car to Weggis was closed, but I will definitely be back to do this again!
This was a fantastic tour despite the drizzle, rain, sleet and wet snow at the top of Rigi. Though I was hoping for a clear day to see the Vista and to take in a spectacular view, I was not disappointed that there was zero visibility. Made for an interesting experience. Anyone can do anything if the weather is good. I accepted the challenge of walking from Rigi Kulm to Kaltbad (should take 50 min but took 1 hr and 15 min due to the inclimate weather and my needing to watch my footing and stopping for some eerie photo ops) Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the warm thermal baths and spa treatments after my adventurous walk on the mountain, being pelted by wet snow. Very punctual, and the transition from boat to cogwheel train and cable car made it a great tour. Connections very easy. Would highly recommend. I enjoyed it immensely!!!

Full description
Upon arriving at Vitznau by boat, seamlessly transition to the connecting train that will whisk you to the summit of majestic Mount Rigi. There, immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring 360-degree panorama that stretches before you. Take a leisurely stroll (approximately 35 minutes) or opt for the hourly train to Rigi Kaltbad.
Visit the mineral baths, where relaxation knows no bounds. Remember to pack your own swimwear and towel (if available), though towel rentals are offered onsite for a small fee of CHF 6 per piece.
From the tranquil Kaltbad, begin your journey back by catching the sustainable cogwheel train return to Vitznau at 15:15, 16:15, or 17:15 to connect with the boat ride back to Lucerne. Alternatively, take the cable car at 16:10, 16:40, 17:10, or 17:40, from Kaltbad bound for Weggis.
Should inclement weather or maintenance cause the closure of the cable car, the train to Vitznau stands ready as an alternative (no refunds when the cable car is closed).

Know before you go
- The starting point of this self-guided tour is Lucerne boat pier 1 opposite to Lucerne train station
- Departure times are: 09:12/10:12/12:00/14:12/15:12. The cruise company is SGV.
- After arriving in Vitznau by boat, you can change directly to the connecting train ascend to the top of Mount RIgi
- After enjoying the spectacular 360-degree view on the top, you can walk, which takes approx. 35 mins or take the train arriving every hour to descend to Rigi Kaltbad. This is where the spa is (no reservation and time restrictions)
- From Kaltbad, you can take the cable car at 16:10/16:40/17:10/17:40 to Weggis, or back to Vitznau at 15:15/16:15/17:15 to connect to the return boat to Lucerne
