Luka was really kind, I was a few minutes late as I was lost but he called to make sure I knew where I was going. I was a solo female traveller and felt really included in conversations. I know this is his grandma’s recipe and I think because it’s made with love it tastes way better! He taught us about the different regions of Slovenia and gave great recommendations and offered that during my time here, I could reach out if I had any questions or was confused. I mostly loved tasting the food after but Luka is passionate about his craft and it was fun just hearing him speak about what to do here in Slovenia. I’d defo go to another cooking class from him and would recommend it to first timers to slovenia or those looking for something different to do.

Chef Luka was excellent. He filled us in on the history of our food and history of the city. It was so interesting and he really made the whole experience wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Luka made it great.

How to explore a traditional Slovenian culture better than through its local food? Slovenia is a country with and old and rich cuisine history.

From my grandmother, to my mother and now to me, recipes and different ways of cooking a traditional Slovenian ŠTRUKELJ have been passed on and now I want to share this with you! Together we will dive deep into Slovenian traditional cuisine. After a warm welcome we will put our aprons on and get our hands dirty!

Did you know that there are more than 13 ingredients in the traditional štrukelj and many natural flavor enhancing additions, some that are secrets from our grandmothers?
I want to invite you to come and find out!

The class is led by Luka, a local with an aptitude for cooking and love for Slovenian culture. He will make sure your štrukelj is a success and that you will be in a food & laugh coma at the end of the experience!

Includes

  • Learn how to make štruklji - You get the recipe at the end.
  • Snacks and drinks - A prosciutto and cheese platter with a special spread accompanied by soft drinks, beer and wine (alcohol only for adults +18).
  • Local specialties - We have some surprises for you to taste.
  • Take away - Usually we can't eat everything so you will be able to take home the leftovers for breakfast or a snack.
  • Meet amazing locals - Our hosts are super cool to meet, because they are insightful.
  • Parking near the shop can be tricky, so if you are coming here in the morning expect to pay up to 5eur for parking (we can provide parking in the afternoon).

Meeting point

Once you are in the area search for a small square surrounded by buildings, there is a broken concrete fountain in the middle of it. You either need to pass a chinese restaurant, near the old church, or go trough a small passageway in the building, near the bus stop. The shop is recognisable by the big clear window. For parking in the afternoon call Luka and he will help you (he has whatsapp), in the morning free parking spots can be found on the platform behind the building.
