This trip was absolutely incredible but quite challenging. The roundtrip transportation arranged for us from our hotel in Seminyak so we didnt have to be worried about getting start and return. The journey from our hotel in seminyak to ijen was around 7 hours, but we were aware of this, just want to share the our experience. It's definitely a very exhausting trip but super unique and definitely worth it, just be aware that the travel to and from Java was the hardest part, but you can just sleep while you are in the car. The hike itself was hard but doable, the hardest part being the descent into the crater. Our guides was awesome, very attentive and knowledgeable and more than willing to take a million amazing photos for you! Our driver does everything he can to make sure the trip is as fast as possible, we ended up getting back to Seminyak by 4pm, be sure not book anything for that time frame as timing cannot be guaranteed.

this trip is a once in a lifetime trip. a long drive from sanur but I knew that. the driver dropped us at the ferry port, gave us our ferry tickets and accross we went. we were met by our guide (chunk) and driver in Java who took us the 1 1/2 hour drive to basecamp. we started hiking at 2am. up and up on a trodden path but very steep. you can get a taxi which is a home made barrow with 3 men pulling and pushing.such hard work! once at the top we then had to climb down into the crater. no path to speak of just gaps in the big rocks. once at the bottom the blue flames were mesmerising and a unique thing to see. chunk was amazing, helping my partner up and down. and tempted her with chocolate. plenty of warungs to stop at on the climb.but be warned, this trip is active. do not do if you have breathing issues or issues with you knees/ankles. a moderate fitness level is recommended. but worth the aches..

It was an amazing trip! Yes, It’s a long trip because of the transfers to Java but but I didn’t have to think at al. It was so well organized. And QimQim, our guide, was the best. He made us all feel comfortable and most important: safe. We hiked for around 45 minutes, and I had it a bit tough but I didn’t had any sleep at all so maybe that is why. QimQim made sure we were the first group down the crater and when we had to get up, a lot of people were coming down. So we had the blue fire for ourselves and that was very nice. The climb down to the crater is a bit hard but totally worth it. You feel so alive!!! Book the trip, it is an amazing experience.

the transportation was convenient and well-organized, making the journey smooth. the guides (fifi and malik) were amazing—knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging throughout the hike, sharing detailed insights about ijen. i was lucky to witness the mesmerizing blue fire and enjoy breathtaking views from the top, making the entire trip a well-planned and unforgettable adventure.

Loved it, all the drivers were lovely and our guide was amazing. So funny, caring and honest - thank you Chung! Definitely worth the money and little sleep! We got to see the blue fire and the beautiful lake. My highlight of our Bali trip!
