Discover the Jeevanje Gardens, Nairobi City Market, Jamia Mosque, McMillan Memorial Library, Askari Monument, Stanley Hotel, Dedan Kimathi Monument, Maasai Market, Supreme Court, Kenyatta International Convention Center, the Parliament Buildings, the Holy Family Basilica and the Galton Fenzi Memorial. This is more of an experience than just a tour. Enjoy an optional snack(Fruit Salad or/and a little piece of goat meat) and experience local culture by learning some popular Swahili words from your guide. Practise your Swahili as you interact with locals at the various stops including the busy Nairobi City Market. We teach you some tricks to get the best deals for souvenirs and we also show you the cheapest stores. Depending on the state of your shoes, we pay for your shoes to cleaned at the local shoe cleaning vendors. We also get you a street photo done by professional photographers found randomly in the streets of Nairobi. All these are optional. While at this tour, be free to ask any questions relating to your experience while in Kenya. On request, based on time and bookings, we drive you safely through downtown and observe the contrast between uptown and downtown.

Kibera slum is located in Nairobi, about 6.6 kilometres (4.1 miles) from the City Centre. It is the largest slum in Africa, and one of the largest in the world. We are a team of 4 local guides; ERICK, SAMUEL, BENTA and JACK. We were all born, raised and still live here in Kibera Community. We have first-hand insights into the authentic daily life in the Kibera neighborhood. This tour enables our guests to learn more about the local community's way of life and the history of Kibera slum. The income generated from the booking fees, helps us in paying school fees for orphans and vulnerable kids and funding many other social projects here in Kibera slum. We run a social impact tour business called OAC Kenya Tours (www.oackenya.weebly.com). It is a vehicle for positive change. Join us in our journey towards social impact, where every booking you make helps to uplift and support orphans and vulnerable children. 50% of the booking fees from this tour goes back to the community. We also run a non-profit called KCOOP Organization which was founded and registered in 2022. Our organization operates here in Kibera slums and in rural parts of Kenya. ITINERARY FOR THIS EXPERIENCE >This tour takes 3 hours, but we can make it longer or shorter depending on your interest. >The meeting point is inside PRESTIGE PLAZA SHOPPING MALL, Ngong Road. After meeting up, we then take a taxi to the first stop which is our office. This tour has 5 stops as follows; 1. Our Office We will first welcome you to our office here in the slum for more introductions & briefing about the entire experience. The office has free Wi-Fi 2. Home Visit The second stop which is the main stop is home Visit where we will welcome you inside one of the residential houses here in the slum to let you learn more about our way of life like how we get water, electricity, bathroom system, typical house size and so on. 3. Handicrafts Centre You will witness how locals recycle materials to make jewelry and other handmade items. 4. KCOOP Children's Centre We run this Children's Centre and it serves orphans and vulnerable kids. 5. CURIO SHOP Explore a variety of handmade African crafts and souvenirs—offered at fair, regular, transparent, and fixed prices. Every item is clearly marked with a price tag. Most tourists shy from walking through most cities in Africa due to the security scare widely advertised about Africa. While security levels might be debatable and relative in different cities in the world, this tour provides enhanced security as you enjoy the sceneries of Nairobi from the comfort of an enclosed air-conditioned bus/van. We either pick you from your hotel or organise transport for you to meet us at the starting point where we board the bus/van. With you in the bus is a knowledgable guide to tell you all about the city and the culture and to deal with any eventuality. While most people are curious to know about downtown Nairobi, this tour covers this part of Nairobi. Incase you wish to buy souvenirs, we take you to a fixed price store for those who are not skilled in bargaining. Depending on traffic, we also pass through Kariokor market where most souvenirs are made from scratch. We take a break and ascend to KICC where you not only get to enjoy the nice breeze of Nairobi but also view the skyline of Nairobi highlighting places like Parliament building, Karura forest, Uppehill, Eastlands, Westlands, Nairobi National Park and others. KICC has amenities like clean washrooms, ATMs, sitting area and a cafe. For those with physical challenges, this is an ideal tour as you do not strain as in the case of a walking tour. After the tour, we either drop you back or organize transport for you back to your hotel depending on the distances from each other of persons sharing the tour.
