Our guide Vai picked us up at the tender at 10 a.m. On the trip around the island, she explained the culture of Rapa Nui to us very well, gave great explanations of all the Mo'ai and always gave us enough time to see everything well and in detail. At the volcano, she told us from her memories of her grandmother how the women of the island used to wash clothes and look after their children there. At the end, we were able to see the start of a festival to elect the island queen. We enjoyed the trip to Rapa Nui, we found the culture very impressive and are very happy to have visited this island.
Hotel pick-up delayed by 30 minutes. Long stops. Due to rain, one attraction of Orongo was not visible. The guide advised to hire a taxi for USD 5. However, this taxi was for USD 30 and on site we were not allowed to enter without a guide, after 30 minutes we managed to hire one for another USD 30 for a 20-minute walk around Orongo. In fact, these are two half-day tours.
