From Istanbul: Söğüt and Bursa Ottoman History Day Trip
Begin your journey of Ottoman history with a bright and early pickup from your hotel in Istanbul, where you will be greeted by your guide who will take care of you throughout the day. Head straight to Söğüt, the Ottoman Empire’s birthplace, whereupon arrival your guide will take you on a walking tour. Walk in the footsteps of Turkey’s great hero Ertuğrul Gazi and visit his tomb where he was laid to rest in 1288. Next, head to the tomb of Sheikh Edebali, Ertuğrul Gazi’s mentor who was considered the spiritual founder of the Ottoman Empire. Continue your tour with a visit of the first capital city of the Ottoman Empire, Bursa. Visit the Tophane area of the city, where the founders of the Ottoman Empire are buried in two ancient Byzantine structures. End your tour with a visit of the Grand Mosque of Bursa, built between 1396 and 1399, and marvel at its structure that withstood the test of time.
