I've liked the 48 hour ticket. I took the royal tour. This includes the entrances for Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and the Britannia. I staeted with the first bus at 9am and first took the green line. Heading to the Castle with sightseeing. Then I walked down the Royal mile to the Palace. At the same day I also took the red line. On my map I marked the places I wanted to see further. The next day I took the blue line to the ship. Very beautiful. After that I used the busses again for visiting the maked places. it was woth it!

Make getting around Edinburgh's top sights easy with a 48-hour Royal Edinburgh hop-on, hop-off bus ticket. (The Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week except 25 May until 8 September when it is open 7 days. No alternative will be offered when the Palace is closed)
The Palace of Holyroodhouse is a working Royal Palace and is closed 15-24 May and 26 June - 4 July. During these closure entry to The King's Gallery is offered as well as a Palace Guidebook ( not Tuesday /Wednesday when all closed)

Use the bus to reach the attractions, leaving the city behind and heading to the coast at Newhaven through Edinburgh’s New Town. With stops for the Royal Botanic Garden and Royal Yacht Britannia, it couldn’t be simpler. As the bus returns to the city center, you can jump off at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Canongate section of the Royal Mile to walk up to Edinburgh Castle.

Know before you go

  • Edinburgh Castle entry is guaranteed with this ticket - when we see you to exchange your voucher we will reserve your entry - this cannot be arranged in advance but you will be offered a choice of entry times.
  • The Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed on Tues and Wed each week except July, August, and September when open 7 days. No alternative offered when the Palace is closed.
  • The Palace is a working Royal Palace and is closed 16-25 May, 27June - 5 July ,during these closure Royal Edinburgh Ticket holders are offered entry to The King's Gallery and a Palace Guidebook. ( Except Tuesday and Wednesday when all closed)
  • Multi-lingual tour handsets are available at Britannia and the Palace of Holyroodhouse and are included in the ticket price
  • An extra charge is made on-site for an optional language handset at Edinburgh Castle
