What a fantastic experience! The entire trip went smoothly. We booked the trip for the 19th. On the night of the 18th to the 19th we were picked up at our hotel at 00:15 by our travel guide Sigit. A super friendly man with a lot of humor! It is a 3 hour drive to Dieng Plateau. After a climb on the Sikunir Hill you will be thanked by a beautiful sunrise. Tip: bring warm clothes and a bottle of water. We arrived at the top of the mountain around 03:00 and the sun rose at 06:11. So you have to wait a while. There are 3 posts on the mountain. 1 is less high than 3. The path is uneven, alternating with stairs and slippery parts. Then we went to the Telaga lake, the crater and the Arjuna temple complex. At the end Sigit brought us to a delicious local restaurant. At 14:00 we were neatly and safely dropped off at our hotel by Sigit. We really enjoyed the trip. Everything was arranged very well in advance by Espetour Jogja. I will definitely recommend this tour! Thanks, Sigit

We did the tour with the guide Haidar. He is friendly and speaks good English, you can tell he studied history and likes communication. At the beginning we were a bit critical because he picked us up from the hotel late. But he apologized profusely and made an extra stop for us at a tea plantation on the way back, which would not have been included otherwise. This and his excellent explanations of the individual spots more than made up for the initial delay. He was always open to questions and on the way back (about 4 hours one way) we had a nice chat. The tour itself includes about 8 hours of transport time in total and pickup at 12.30 a.m. If that's not a problem for you, this individual tour is more than worth the price. Overall, unique experiences in nature (sunrise, lake, general landscape) and culture (temples, market, food), depending on what interests you, Haidar will go into it.

We had an amazing time with Eko, our guide and now honorary travel buddy. He showed up five minutes early—clearly more excited than us! He took us to Dieng Plateau, where we soaked in breathtaking views, visited a steaming crater (don’t worry, we made it out alive), and explored stunning temples. Eko was not just a guide but also a great entertainer, keeping us laughing the whole way. He even recommended a restaurant so good we considered moving in. If you want a trip filled with fun, knowledge, and zero stress, Eko is your guy! Six stars for Eko!

We started our day (night) by being picked up by our super nice guide eko (don’t know how it’s spelled). He was super nice, and very good at English. We slept in the car and arrived at dieng. The sunrise was amazing. We then went to the sulfur-plant. Very interesting but very smelly. Then we went to a lookout post. It was such a gorgeous trip, but we were really tired from getting up so early. Would totally recommend watching the sunset from dieng, it’s a beautiful place.

Dieng is a cool place, however best to note that visitors should wear hiking shoes or sport shoes. The surroundings were pretty. Thought that its a jeep tour but its a self guided one when seeing the sunrise. The activity was underwhelming despite being hyped about online.
