Loved the comfortable seating. The history was very interesting! The guides really need to have portable intercom/microphone system of some sort because I could not hear what was being said 1/2 the time. Not the guides fault because the trail is loud. Was nice to have the wine tasting before departure and to find light snacks at your seat on the train. My son enjoyed it immensely!

Enjoy a thrilling journey on the Verde Canyon Railroad departing from Clarkdale, Arizona. Wind your way through a red rock paradise, with tracks that hug the curves of the Verde River, first built in 1912.

Relax in spacious living room-style seating near panoramic windows. Individually packaged, freshly made snacks of meats, cheeses, fruits, and brownie bites are served at your seats. Full bar service is available in every car. Stroll around the train to open-air viewing platforms.

Take in astonishing views of a wild and vibrant frontier, historic trestles, bridges, and a 7,000-foot tunnel. See nature tucked into unusual rock formations, red rock pinnacles, and towering crimson cliffs.

Look up to see bald eagles and hawks float effortlessly on the breeze above Javelina. Keep an eye open for wild burros, jackrabbits, and many other canyon creatures who have been peacefully coexisting with this heritage railroad for more than 100 years.

Arrive at the secluded former settlement of Perkinsville, before turning around and heading back to Clarkdale.

  • Please check in a minimum of 1 hour prior to departure time
  • Pre-ordered meals are served only at Depot restaurant
  • Strollers and car seats are not allowed onboard the train
  • No outside food or drink is allowed onboard the train
  • Unfortunately, special dietary options are unable to be accommodated
  • Backpacks and purses are subject to search
  • Infant age is 0-1 year. Any guest aged 1 and over will be charged an adult rate. All guests aged 1 year and over must have a paid ticket to board the train. If this was not paid at the time of booking, you will be charged by the operator for any unpaid tickets on the day of travel

We LOVED this excursion. It was an absolutely fantastic way to spend the day. First - EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER WAS AWESOME (& so very very nice)!! The drinks available before the train ride were delicious, and the lunch options were plentiful. We boarded and found ourselves in a booth for two, which didn't feel small at all. We enjoyed our complimentary mini bottles of champagne and our charcuterie plate. The outside, open-air train car never felt overcrowded, and we always found room on the rail. All in all, a perfect afternoon! Highly Recommend!
