Greeted at the hotel reception by Shiva (a man not the god) we knew we were in good hands. He had left home at 4 to come to Chennai and pick us up for 8. He and the driver, Kartick, were super nice and we had a lovely day with them. The Hindu pantheon is mind bogglingly complex with 10 or 15 different incarnations of Vishnu to deal with and all the many aspects of Shiva (god not guide), not to mention the demons and lesser characters. Our Shiva told many of the stories really well. He also took us to an excellent Thali lunch and silk maker along the way to the amazing Maha.. temples and finished on the shore at twilight. Truly a great day and a memorable experience
The guide Kavin was very nice and considerate of our group. And he was also very knowledgeable and explained the history of the temples and places of worship we visited, and answered all questions very patiently. I booked the afternoon/evening timeslot and I can only recommend that time of day for it. After the tour Kavin even helped me getting an auto to get back to my hostel, and checked if I arrived safely. That's really very, very sweet!
It turns out we were Nethaji’s first ever clients! He looked after us well, adding in a great coffee stop after the temple visit, an ATM (which we needed) and helped us find somewhere to buy a Ganesh car charm that we’d been looking for. We also stopped off at the nearby Jain temple - really interesting.
Our guide Mani was excellent, he was very knowledgeable and informative. He was also very caring and went beyond his role as a guide to ensure that we returned safely to our hotel.
Puneet was engaging and knowledgeable. Very detailed knowledge on the religious meanings of the temple design and iconography.
