Awesome tour ! 10/10 recommend. The agency was very communicative about pick up time and expectations. Our tour guide, FRANKLIN, was very informative and helpful. Pick up was walking distance from our hotel. We drove about 1 hour to the volcano in a bus that was comfortable w air conditioning. We were one of the first people to arrive so we didn’t have to wait to get in. They have a team of employees that help you get into the volcano and put the mud on you. Give you a massage if you want but all respect if you don’t want it. They collect your phone and shoes before you get in and take pictures of you while you’re in the mud. Then when you get out they have some women by the water that help wash you off with a bucket. From there we sat at a small restaurant where they gave us coke/water and empanada/arepa. Whatever you wanted. And then we changed before we rode back. The driver also coordinated the tip collection so it wasn’t as hectic/ stressful. Highly recommend to do this!!

Full description

Discover the natural landscapes of Colombia on this guided excursion. Visit Santa Catalina, and bathe yourself in the purifying mud of the volcano.


As the minivan leaves town, hear some curious facts about Cartagena's history and some tips to ensure a better experience at the mud volcano. The trip to Santa Catalina, another beautiful Colombian city and the location of the volcano, lasts around 45 minutes.


Upon arrival at the volcanic zone, be greeted by the owner of a small nearby restaurant.

Then, prepare for a unique experience as you climb the 50 steps that surround the volcano; remember to wear old clothing as the mud can be rough on delicate materials.


Immerse yourself in the volcanic mud, reaping the health benefits for your skin from the millions of minerals. Some people say afterward, you'll appear 10 years younger.

Inside the volcano, you can float thanks to the high number of minerals present. There will be some locals around offering massages for an extra price of 2 USD. Outside of the volcano, pay to get your photo taken for another 2 USD. When the soaking is over, head to the lake for a shower. 


Before continuing back to the city, enjoy a typical snack in a rustic restaurant. Get dropped off at your hotel.

This was such a fun and unique experience! The mudding was amazing, and our guide Franklin and driver Jesus were both fantastic. The experience includes several helpers: someone to take photos, someone who massages you in the mud bath, and someone who washes you off in the lagoon. They all made it special—but here’s a heads-up: if one of them gives you their name, they’ll likely expect a personal tip. Our guide gave us the option to tip as a group at the end, which is best. Avoid individual tipping unless you’re prepared, and just be mindful of the expectation dynamics. Also, the drive felt long—worth it, but good to know in advance. All in all, a must-do experience!
