This 19th-century Gothic Revival masterpiece, designed by architect William Burges for the Marquess of Bute, is known as Wales’ ‘fairy-tale castle’ thanks to its romantic turrets, conical roofs, and richly decorated interiors. *Please note, Castell Coch is currently under renovation works. Whilst you can still enter the castle, the opportunity to walk around the grounds of the castle is currently limited. Next, explore the magnificent Caerphilly Castle - the largest castle in Wales. Surrounded by vast water defences and boasting dramatic towers, it’s a true feat of medieval engineering. Discover its fascinating history, admire the famously leaning tower, and enjoy free time for lunch in the town, with stunning views of this formidable fortress. We then travel north to Cyfarthfa Castle, an impressive 19th-century mansion once home to the Crawshay family, who owned the world-renowned Cyfarthfa Ironworks. Now a museum and gallery, it showcases Wales’ industrial heritage, fine art, and social history, all set within beautiful parkland. The tour continues with a scenic drive through Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), renowned for its rugged peaks, rolling green hills, and breathtaking views. Keep an eye out for local wildlife and hear tales of ancient Welsh myths that echo through the landscape. Experience our tours with a maximum of 8 passengers per group. Settle into a comfortable van and escape Cardiff city to explore the medieval history of Wales. Discover the best attractions of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), one of the three national parks in Wales. Enter the National Park to visit Henrhyd Falls, the tallest and most spectacular waterfall in South Wales, known for its role as a filming location for the final scene of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises as the entrance to the Batcave. Next, Proceed to the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog and enjoy a short stop at the second oldest tree in Wales, a stunning yew tree that is 3018 years old, making it one of the oldest trees in Britain. Stop in Brecon, where you can admire the canals—voted the prettiest in Britain—or simply enjoy a stroll through the town's quaint streets, filled with independent shops, bakeries, coffee spots, and souvenir shops. Visit the Bannau Brycheiniog Visitor Centre and enjoy a pleasant stroll surrounded by beautiful hills and stunning mountains. Continue to the town of Merthyr Tydfil to take some photos at Cyfarthfa Castle, located in a picturesque park. During the journey, learn about the Industrial Revolution period in Wales. End your day at Caerphilly Castle, the largest in Wales and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a stroll around this magnificent fortress, or relax with an ice cream in the town. Relax in the vehicle as you journey back to Cardiff, where you'll be dropped off at the designated location. On this day trip to Cardiff, the capital of Wales we will be met on arrival by a local guide for a panoramic tour of the city. After this we head down to Cardiff Bay, a great natural harbour and the estuary of the River Taff, where you will be able to get lunch by the water. After lunch we’ll continue our tour through the seaside town of Penarth before travelling back into the centre of Cardiff. We will conclude our time in Cardiff with a visit to the fabulous Cardiff Castle, a fortress with a 2000-year history, from beginning life as a humble Roman Fort to the Romantic Victorian splendour of today.
