Great tour. Loved seeing the canyons and hoodoos. The Royal Tyrell Museum was really interesting. And our tour guide Sam was great.

It was interesting. Ian shared stories about downtown Calgary and several small towns as we travelled to Atlas Coal Mine, the Hoodoos, and the Royal Tyrell Museum. The stories made the distance between sites go quickly. The Hoodoos are an interesting place to experience. It's like walking into a Star Wars setting with white soil, no vegetation, and interesting rock formations, some of which looked like brown-capped mushrooms. IMO it's well worth seeing. The Royal Tyrell Museum was informative. Learning about the dinosaurs and other creatures that inhabited this part of the world was interesting. I can see why it is one of the top three places worldwide that are known for their dinosaur skeletons and knowledge.

Full description

After departing from Calgary, your first stop will be at Horseshoe Canyon, with the stunning views of the valley. Continue to the Hoodoos, where you will hop off the vehicle to enjoy views of these unique sandstone formations. Walk amongst these imposing structures. 

Next, visit the Atlas Coal Mine. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2002, your ride will explore the Processing Plant. Stop for a picnic lunch along the way with some great food and some rest before continuing the journey. 

Visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum, Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the science of paleontology. Housing a collection of over 130,000 fossils, see mounted dinosaur skeletons including the T-Rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops. Look into the "Preparation Lab", where you can watch technicians prepare fossils for research and exhibition.

Continue along Dinosaur Trail to Horsethief Canyon and on to the Bleriot Ferry (seasonal). Wrap up the day and relax at Orkney Viewpoint.
