This trip was absolutely amazing! I even added a marine biologist snorkel tour for $45 which was absolutely worth it and so interesting!

Awesome! Had a lovely time snorkeling at two locations. Got some scones and muffins before departure and a buffet lunch between the two sites. All equipment was provided by the crew. Recommend bringing two towels. Only comment is that the guy in charge for the day talked a lot, in great detail, about seasickness. To the extent that if you were to be someone who needed to buy seasick tablets, you did not have time because he talked about it for so long that that 20 min window closed. So bring your own tablets if you’re unsure!

This full-day tour stops at 2 spectacular Outer Great Barrier Reef destinations for snorkelling with equipment and lessons provided. Feel free to jump in the water and explore this natural wonder up close.

Sit down for a delicious barbeque lunch with prawns, fish, steak, salads and bread before making your way to the second reef location. Jump back into the water to explore another Outer Reef Site before the cruise back to Cairns with a complimentary glass of wine, cheese and biscuits.

Meet your tour at the local partner's, Down Under Cruise and Dive, kiosk at the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns. Checkin is from 7:15 AM to 7:45 AM. The vessel departs at 8 AM and returns at approximately 4:30 PM.

Know before you go

  • The minimum age for introductory diving is 12 years old
  • This activity is dependent on the weather
  • All divers are required to complete an onboard medical questionnaire
  • Divers over 65 must have medical clearance from a physician confirming they are fit to dive. Please be aware that certain medical conditions (e.g. asthma, heart disease, diabetes) and any prescription medications will require a letter or email from a doctor clearing you to dive. This clearance must state your full name, the doctor's name and practice, and the clearance to dive for the specific medications/condition
  • Diving within 24 hours before your flight is not permitted
  • Special dietary requirements should be confirmed directly with the activity provider
  • Languages spoken onboard: English, German, Japanese, Chinese Mandarin.

Loved it! Saw a reef shark and 2 sea turtles and lots and lots of different types of fish! I wish they would have been more strict with people about making sure your flippers don’t hit the coral and not wearing chemical sunscreens because as I swam I saw a few people kick some coral (probably by accident but be careful!). Good crew of young people so had good energy and kept everyone moving to get in the water. Both reef locations were very good (I have no comparison). You can bring your own snorkel gear, and take a seasick tablet for sure!
