Great tour, Gabriel was a great driver and guide, much love to him! Due to being a small group we managed to be very flexible. The fortress at Veliko Tarnovo offers a nice view and good picture taking spots, and the drive through Romania and Bulgaria was very beautiful at times thanks to the numerous sunflower fields!

Full description

This 12-hour trip starts early in the morning with a pickup from the predetermined fixed point in the center of Bucharest, followed by a walk to the foothills of the Balkan Mountains. Spend a pleasant day discovering the impressive medieval settlement of Veliko Tarnovo.

Veliko Tarnovo was the medieval capital of Bulgaria and is home of the Tsaravets Fortress, the strongest Bulgarian fortification of the Middle Ages.

Your itinerary includes visits to the St. Dimitrie Basarabov Monastery, the only monastery in Bulgaria carved into a cliff that is still inhabited today and Arbanasi village, where the medieval architecture will transport you back a few centuries in time.
