Bruges Beer Experience

Your guide will meet you at the meeting point. Experience the many charms of the Venice of the North and see why the historic center of Bruges was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the city tour you'll see the Lake of Love, the Begijnhof (founded in 1245), Walplein Square, the Stoofstraat, Old St. John’s Hospital, the Church of Our Lady, Gruuthuse Palace, the Djiver Canal, Rozenhoedkaai, Tanners Square (Huidenvettersplein), the Burg Square with its Gothic Town Hall, the Basilica of the Holy Blood and the Market Square (Grote Markt) with the Belfort. At the end of the visit, your guide will answer all your questions and recommend places for lunch outside the tourist area. The guide will also give you advice about Belgium’s famous beer and about additional places to visit, including museums. End your visit with a boat ride through its canals and an optional Beer Tasting (only available in the English tour)! Do not miss this opportunity to discover the city from another perspective.

A 1000 years of stories brought to you by a local storyteller. Travel back to the middle ages and imagine how life was when Bruges was the richest city in the world. On our walk through the medieval heart of Bruges, we will tell you about our Golden Ages. But also how we became the poorest city of Belgium afterwards and why we are once more flourishing as a city. We'll share our stories about love and conflict, architecture and wealth, why we like neither the French nor Dutch, but also about feminism and finance, and of course, tell you about chocolate and beer. Visit Bruges' Beer Experience Museum to find out about the history and heritage of Belgian beer. Go through the interactive exhibition with an audio guide on an iPad Mini, make use of the special tour for kids, and finish with an optional beer tasting onsite. Use all your senses in the interactive exhibition at the Beer Experience, the beer museum located in Bruges' beautiful Old Town. Use the iPad Mini provided to learn about topics like Trappist and abbey beers, the brewing process, the history of women and beer, food pairing, and much more. Children up to age 12 can enjoy the Kids Tour, which centers around the exciting story of the Bruges bear. At the end of your tour, opt for a beer tasting for an extra €6. The onsite restaurant also offers snacks like cheese, sausages, crackers, paté, and chocolates.

In the evening, when Bruges quiets down, Ambassadors Tours invites you to join one of our storytellers for this walking tour, which will focus on the stories and legends not covered during any tour in the city during the day! We'll avoid the obvious and head to lesser-known but beautiful places. Be surprised by the lesser-known side of Bruges. Our guides are master storytellers who focus on those stories to keep history interesting for adults and children. Join this evening tour to experience that yourself!

This experience is about tasting the many varieties of Belgian beers and trying to figure out what your favorite Belgian beers of beer styles are. As a beer sommelier, I will try and guide you through that process by giving you some personal recommendations for beer to try during the tour and afterwards... All tasted beers come in small glasses, so the focus is the taste and flavor and not the quantity of the beer. In total, you will taste 8 or 9 different beers, served in small tasting glasses. There might be 1 or 2 bigger beers included in one of the pubs, subject to availability and opening times of the bars. We meet in front of the Bourgogne des Flandres brewery where you are welcomed and given your bag with your personal tasting glass inside. you get to blend your own Bourgogne des Flandres beer from the two base beers used in the blend and compare it to the actual BdF. During this session you will also discover how well beer and chocolate go together as we will be tasting some Belgian pralines with the beers in this workshop. First, we do a tasting and blending session at Bourgogne des Flandres, including a beer-chocolate pairing. From there we take a short walk to the beer museum. Whilst tasting some beers, I will tell you more about the different beers and beer styles tasted. After that, we pay a visit to 2 nearby beer pubs where we taste some more beers and where I tell you a bit more about what makes the Belgian beer scene so unique. Other things to note: This is a tasting tour involving alcohol and chocolates. Therefore the tour is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16 (legal drinking age in Belgium) nor for anyone who cannot consume alcohol/chocolate for medical or other reasons.
