West Sweden: Sea Kayak Delight in Nature Reserves

West Sweden: Sea Kayak Delight in Nature Reserves

Kayaking in the area is sheltered and calm and if you are paddling for the first time this is the ideal location. And even if you’ve spent plenty of time in the cockpit this is still an amazing location. We pass along skerries and islets and narrow passages and circumnavigate the idyllic island of Bassholmen, with bird sanctuaries, summer grazing animals and quaint old historic buildings. Bassholmen is also our perfect landing spot for lunch, coffee and a nice stretch of the legs. You don’t need any prior knowledge to join us on this tour. The tour is a great introduction to kayak paddling, where we continuously practise the basic skills you need. We do, however, assume that you are able to swim and that you are at least 15 years old, or paddle in the company of a responsible adult.

West Sweden: Self Guided Kayak Tour - Southern Route

West Sweden: Self Guided Kayak Tour - Southern Route

A Self guided sea kayaking tour along the southern route of the West Sweden coast is a fabulously beautiful journey through a varied coastal landscape. You start in a lush, green and relatively weather-protected inner archipelago environment in the fjordlands area, before the paddling takes you to the rugged and rocky outer archipelago, with charming fishing communities and horizon feel. You will meet steep rock walls, inviting sandy beaches, colonies of sea birds, spectacular sunsets and deserted islands to stay overnight. Perhaps you will also get close contact with the area's signature animal, the harbor seal. The southern route also gives you many alternatives, where much of the paddling takes place, or can take place, on relatively weather-protected waters. Perfect if any or a few days offer windy conditions. You can choose to paddle three, four, five, six or seven days. If you need camping equipment you can rent a camping package from us. It has never been easier to find a great paddling adventure.

West Sweden: Rock Climbing Day

West Sweden: Rock Climbing Day

Never climbed before? Or tried a few times, maybe indoors, but fancy trying the real stuff, on a real crag? Before you are sure you want to take that basic climbing course you may want to try it out first, see how it feels. We will bring you on a great trip to a good crag for a safe introduction. And we really believe you will get caught. On our rock climbing days we focus purely on the fun of climbing, in a safe and enjoyable way. On one of the nearby granite crags you will learn the basics of rock climbing and belaying, while pushing your limits to new levels. A guaranteed emotionally strong experience and a true adventure. And with us always led by an experienced and certified instructor.

West Sweden: Paddle with seals

West Sweden: Paddle with seals

In the Havstensfjord the water is often calm. The fjord is protected from westerly winds by the large island of Orust and we can quietly glide around and look for the fjord’s natural inhabitants. The chances of getting company from the fjord’s colony of harbor seals is good. We help each other to look out for heads emerging near the kayaks curiously peering at us. Who is actually checking out who? Havstensfjord is also home to the densest population of eiders in Sweden, partly thanks to the blue mussel farms evenly spread out on the water, offering a favorite buffet of food for the birds. With a decent portion of good luck we can also spot a white tailed sea eagle circling in the sky above. What is definitely certain is that we will spot many other species of sea birds and have a nice lunch and coffee break on an island along the way.

West Sweden: Mountainbike Monday

West Sweden: Mountainbike Monday

There are lots of fun mountain biking around Uddevalla. Lakes and forests, sea and meadows, pine needle carpets and rock outcrops. Simply miles of fun trails. On a Mountainbike Monday, we choose the one that works best for the day, depending on the circumstances and wishes of the group. Maybe, we will pedal up to Lake Bjursjön and begin on the excellent trails there, and then continue over to the Herrestad mountain nature reserve. Maybe we will have a coffee break by the odd looking sami lavvu, overlooking Lake Kroksjön, before we continue on super nice single tracks towards Sanders valleys and further back towards Lake Bjursjön again. Yes, that’s a good idea, that's probably what we’ll do. It will be a really fun ride.
