Pause here for photos and to learn about the history of Glencoe, including the massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692. From the atmospheric Glencoe, travel further along the banks of Loch Linnhe to the Highland town of Fort William, which sits at the foot of Britain's tallest mountain - Ben Nevis. Stop here to stretch your legs and have an early lunch break. Next, continue to the stunning Glenfinnan Viaduct, which served as the scenic route of the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter series. Discover the setting for the Triwizard Tournament from the movie, and the loch from the grounds of Hogwarts. Visit the Glenfinnan Monument, which symbolizes one of the most important events in Scottish history; the 1745 Jacobite uprising. Next, departing Glenfinnan, sit back and relax on your journey to Edinburgh, passing through the spectacular Cairngorms National Park and stopping for refreshments at the small village of Pitlochry on the way.

Head further into the Scottish highlands and arrive in the small picturesque village of Fort Augustus at the south-west end of Loch Ness. Choose to take part in an optional boat cruise here. On the way back to Edinburgh, relax and take in the Highland scenery. Stop for a final refreshment at the historic town of Pitlochry before continuing the journey home over the Firth of Forth alongside the UNESCO Forth Rail Bridge.

Stop for photos and delve into Glencoe’s history, including the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan. Depart this scenic valley and follow the banks of Loch Linnhe to Fort William, a Highland town situated at the base of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in Britain. Pause here to enjoy the fresh Highland air before continuing to the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Drive west to the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, best known for its scenes in the Harry Potter film series, which is beautifully set among mountains on the shores of Loch Shiel. This enchanting location is famous for the Jacobite Steam Train, often compared to the Hogwarts Express. Take a short nature walk to reach the best viewing point of the Glenfinnan Viaduct. We aim to arrive in time to watch the train cross the viaduct, please note that the Jacobite Steam train runs on a seasonal basis (schedule is set by the train operator and is subject to change). Loch Shiel also plays the role of the “Black Lake”, used as the backdrop to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in several of the films. Enjoy the stunning views by the shores of the lake, a short walk away from our stop at Glenfinnan. Our scenic journey back to Edinburgh begins with our first stop is the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, where you can take in the impressive views of the Nevis Range. Continue along the picturesque Loch Laggan and then ascend above the Grampian Mountains. Travel through the western regions of the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and pause in the charming village of Pitlochry for refreshments. Take a stroll through this picturesque Victorian town or grab a quick bite to eat before making your way back to Edinburgh, arriving at approximately 7 PM for tours departing 7 AM, and 8:30 PM for tours departing at 8:30 AM.. **This tour has been designed to show you as much of Scotland as we can fit into one day! Due to the distance driven a large portion of the tour is spent on the bus, taking in the views and scenery of Scotland.**

Reaching Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness, you’ll have time to take a boat cruise in search of Nessie, enjoy a scenic walk in this Highland village, or simply soak up the Highland charm by the Caledonian Canal. If choosing the cruise, your boat is equipped with the latest hi-tech color, sonar, and underwater imaging system, giving you a fascinating view of the underwater terrain and life. Finish your tour at Falls of Foyers and Dores Beach on the banks of Loch Ness.

Departing from Glasgow in the morning, we travel north, pausing for refreshments in the highland town of Tyndrum, before continuing onwards to Glencoe. The Glen is arguably one of Scotland's most famous glens, and features in James Bond's 'Skyfall'; spend time soaking up the dramatic atmosphere, as well as taking some fantastic photos, and learn all about the history of the Massacre of Glencoe. Travelling through more unparalleled highland scenery, we reach the town of Fort William. We will stop for lunch in the loch-side town, where you can enjoy stunning views across the lochs, as well as taking a look at Ben Nevis, Britain’s tallest mountain, which sits just outside of the town. After our stop in Fort William, our one-day Glenfinnan tour travels eastwards to the main attraction of the day; Glenfinnan Viaduct, famous for its many appearances in the Harry Potter movies. During the summer months, you will also be able to see the iconic view of the Jacobite Steam Train (or Hogwarts Express) crossing the viaduct. Don’t forget your camera! Surrounded by mountains on the shores of Loch Shiel, the Glenfinnan Monument symbolises one of the most important events in Scottish history; the 1745 Jacobite Uprising. We spend approximately one hour at the monument, with enough time to learn the history of the Jacobites and for you to get some iconic photos of the magnificent bridge and the stunning surrounding area, steeped in Scottish history. Not only is this location famous for the Glenfinnan Viaduct, but Loch Shiel was the location of the 'Black Lake'; see if you can spot a 'grindylow' under the surface causing mischief! It's also the setting for Buckbeak's beautiful flight, scenes from the Triwizard Tournament and also the stunning loch where Hogwarts is based. From Glenfinnan, we begin our journey back to Glasgow, and very soon we cross over a canal with a series of locks on the right called Neptune’s Staircase. It is part of the Caledonian Canal, which along with four lochs, allows boats and ships to make a 96 km journey from the west to the east side of Scotland. A true feat of Scottish engineering. We continue our journey south, heading past the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. We will stop here at Tarbet for a comfort break before our tour continues and we return back to Glasgow.

After lunch in the Fort William area, your tour will pause for photos at Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, then stop to admire Glen Garry and the stunning Five Sisters of Kintail mountain range. Your first day ends in the charming village of Portree, on the Isle of Skye. Day 2 After breakfast, your will depart Portree for a full day’s touring - options include Dunvegan Castle, a trip to Uig, and a visit to Flora MacDonald’s grave and the unique Black Houses, ancient dwellings of the Scottish Highlanders. Other options include viewing Duntulum Castle, enjoying breathtaking views of Kilt Rock, or perhaps a bracing walk at the Lealt Falls. The day will end with the opportunity to admire the Old Man of Storr, before returning to Portree. Day 3 Small Group You will commence your final day of the tour via the much-admired Eilean Donan Castle, the backdrop for the movie, ‘Highlander’; (interior closed in winter) then move on to the pretty lochside village of Fort Augustus for lunch and views of Loch Ness. The tour continues south over Laggan and the Grampian mountains with the last stop, for refreshments, in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, before returning to Edinburgh, where the tour will end.
