From Bali: 3-Day Excursion to Mount Bromo and Ijen Crater

The tour was excellent. Lots of driving but worth it to see beautiful sites in Java and learn about Indonesian culture that we wouldn’t have known if we stayed in Bali for our entire trip. Our guide was Adi and he strived to make us comfortable the entire time. He bent over backwards and showed us hospitality even with early wake ups and driving over 24hr in a three day period. It was absolutely worth it.

Was seating in a car for about 24h in 3 days, waking up at 1am to hike two active volcanoes while learning good (and bad) things about Indonesian culture worth it ? Absolutely. These three days have been such a great experience and I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. Our driver/guide Made Cheng is one of the kindest and most humble people I’ve ever met. He’s been driving us around for hours (a lot of hours) but he always had time to make us laugh, and make us feel as comfortable as possible. On the last day, he’s brought us to have lunch in his own village, in his (family) restaurant. As of Bromo, the view at sunrise was just amazing. Lots of people were there, but Made Cheng managed to bring us on a great spot which was less crowded. After that, we took the famous and amazing “Jeep” and got closer to the mount. On the next day, we’ve approached Ijen, where we’ve met Chong, the specialised guide who lead us up to the tip of the mount and down to the crater. I’m not gonna lie,
