The church of Saint Dimitios - the patron Saint of the city is the most important early Christian church of the city and one of the oldest and largest in Greece, dedicated to the city's parton saint, Dimitrios. The Heptapyrgion, modern Eptapyrgio, also popularly known by its Ottoman Turkish name Yedi Kule. It is a Byzantine and Ottoman-era fortress situated on the north-eastern corner of the Acropolis of Thessaloniki.
