Alesund is a picturesque town in Norway and is well-known for suffering from a large fire back in 1904. As a result, most of the city was rebuilt and today represents a beautiful, colorful and historic city. From Ålesund, travel across the Giske bridge to the saga island of Giske, the birthplace of the Viking chieftain, Rollo. The municipality was named after this small island because of its historical importance. Giske is fairly flat and fertile with some settlements dating back to the early Bronze Age. Stop to admire and photograph the exterior of the quaint 12th-century white marble Giske Church. Next, travel through a tunnel to the island of Godøy and the picturesque fishing village of Alnes. Visit Alnes Lighthouse where, on a clear day, there is a lovely view of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding islands. After our visit to Alnes, we return to Ålesund and ascend the local mountain, Aksla. The bus will take us as far as the stadium, where we’ll continue our journey on foot. A scenic 900-meter walk on a gentle path with no gradient will lead us to the viewpoint, offering spectacular panoramic views of Ålesund and its stunning surroundings. From the viewpoint, we will descend 418 steps back to the town, where it's just a short walk to the harbor.‍  Please Note: For those who prefer not to walk to the viewpoint or down the steps, the bus will return directly to the harbor.

Visit the Giske Church, a 12th-century church built from white marble, located approximately 10km from the Ålesund city center. Head across the water to the island of Alnes. See views of the Atlantic ocean as you explore the fishing island. Stop at Alnes Fyr, a local lighthouse with a cafe. Spend some time in Alnes Fyr Cafe, where you can purchase coffee and snacks. The last stop is the Aksla viewpoint. Here you can take in panoramic views of the city and archipelago. You can stop here to have a coffee or something to eat at Fjellstua restaurant. If you wish to go to the city center, you can end the tour at the viewpoint. Otherwise, you will be taken back to the tour starting point.
