I very much enjoyed the trip and Eric the guide/driver/cook was lovely. The park is very beautiful; rain-forest, bamboo forest—quite rare in Kenya. I don't think many guides on this platform offer this visit, and we only saw a handful others, which added to the 'middle-of know-where' feel. Don't expect high-end gear and a luxury jeep, but Eric knew what he was doing and adapted the itinerary according to circumstances (rain, spotted animals etc). We got trompetted at by an elephant, spotted all sorts of bucks (ree/bush/water etc.), a black serval cat(!), and had company of some buffalo's and a dik-dik at the camp. The food was very tasty and made with care, partly on the camp fire. We had rain & fog, but on a clear night I can only imagine how amazing the sky would look like. I did miss some chairs at the camp, so check in with them if they have them when you go, or bring your own.

Eric was a great guide. We made it almost to the Point of Despair when we had to turn back because of freezing ice rain. Yes, hail in the rain because of the altitude. He safely guided us down the trail, which was slick and extremely muddy in some places. He kept my spirits up and after warming up by a fire, changing our clothes, we stopped a nearby roadside duka for a cup of kenyan tea. I would recommend Daring Escapes.
