Some villas designed by Palladio, were built at the foothills northern of Venice, close to the charming, historical, beloved by Lord Byron, Goethe and Eleonora Duse, medieval little village of Asolo.
We are talking about Villa Barbaro in Maser and Villa Emo in Fanzolo (both open daily, Villa Emo has wonderfull enteriors). 4 hours is a very short time to visit this area, but we can drive straight to the villas and enjoy vine tasting in the farmhouse next villa Barbaro in Maser, where they purpose local wine production (vineyards in front of the villa, over the garden and the ROAD.
It’s possible also to visit just one of the villa and jump to the area of Prosecco, around Valdobbiadene (Valdobbiadene is the heart of famous prosecco) where our guest can enjoy wine tasting in one of the many producers; just for instance, between my favorites:
“Bortolomiol” (very organized and structured company with quite large production)
“Col Vetoraz” (small, very charming and with a breathless scenery view)
“Bisol” (one of the oldest, vineyard existing since 1542)
“Folador” (just for very demanding and knowledgeable passengers, their products are very
COMPLETE PALLADIAN TOUR + WINE TASTING AND LUNCH (FULL DAY 8-9 hrs)
Considering a full day tour, it’s possible to enjoy a full tour of Palladian Villas and a good lunch in the countryside.
From Venice we lead passengers straight to the wine tasting close to Valdobbiadene (we’ll reach the wine producer selected around 11 am if hotel in Venice island is left around 9 am).
Then we’ll head to Maser (Palladian Villa Barbaro) followed by Bassano to give a glance to the wooden bridge designed by Palladio and many time rebuilt during the history, keeping original shape.
Finally Vicenza, town of Palladio, where you can see his print almost in every building of the downtown and where he designed his most famous villa called “La Rotonda” and the Olimpic theatre (both absolutely worth a visit, La rotonda is open inside just on Saturday).
Lunch will take place in Asolo (based on timing and passengers preferences) or in a very nice restaurant in the hill around. Other wine tastings are available as well around Valdobbiadene as around Asolo.
