Our guide Sofia spoke English, Japanese and Cantonese. She had a sweet and funny nature. She spoke about Hokkaido with pride. She gave interesting details about the geography, history and culture. Our journey took us out of the city through suburbia and onto rural. It was apparent the farm sizes are much bigger than elsewhere in Japan. Fields of rice, canola, & corn. Sofie said that potatoes are popular. We travelled through Furano and did the roller coaster road. Our first stop was at the Shirogane Blue Pools at Biei. We stopped at the Herb Garden at Kamifurano for lunch. We got a voucher for a lavender ice cream. It was delicious. We went to the Flower Land at Kamifurano. It was the highlight of the trip. So colourful and vast. We set out again and stopped at Ningle Terrace opposite the Shin Furano Prince Hotel ski resort. Ningle Terrace is a collection of boutique wooden cottages that house arts and craft

I’ve had a wonderful time on this trip! Our tour guide Rita provided a lot of information about Hokkaido and shared recommendations for restaurants, sights, shops and everything. She always took care everybody was happy. There isn’t a lot of time at the places you’re visiting but tbh it’s enough time to take a photo and get some ice cream :) it didn’t feel rushed to me.
