Poole: Walking Tour of Historic Poole

Poole: Walking Tour of Historic Poole

Starting at 19 High Street, your guided walking tour will help you imagine Poole in the centuries gone by. Poole was 'founded' in 1248 when Sir William Longspee sold the land to the citizens to fund his costs for a Crusade from which he never returned. But, Poole has a much longer history that stretches back to the Iron Age and it also has Roman connections. Your will learn how Poole's coastline has been reclaimed, where the town was attacked by the Spanish looking for the pirate Harry Paye, how Codfish from Newfoundland paid for one of Poole's transformations, and where the smuggling tunnels still exist. The main tour takes two hours at a slow walking pace and is on mostly level pavement. It is all wheelchair accessible. A shorter tour is available on request.

First of all, Peter and Michelle are both amazing and lovely people and even just meeting them was a pleasure. I booked this for my partners birthday and we had the best day on the e-bikes, we had absolutely amazing views from a part of the UK I have never seen before, with water and snacks included. It really did make our day and my partners birthday extra special. I would recommend this to anyone. They were brilliant in how they organised taking photos, lots of professional and candid shots that are great memories and action shots captured. Can’t share our thanks enough, such a great day!!

We had a wonderful evening - the commentary was really funny & the fish & chips were perfect! All the crew were very friendly 😊

My husband and I really enjoyed the trip. It was very interesting and wonderful scenery. Thank you.

Really nice experience although it would have been nice to stop in swanage for a bit and go back.

Cruise trip was great apart from rain but can’t complain about that’s UK weather for you.
