Your tour takes you west past Stirling to Glengoyne Distillery. The tour here introduces you to the simple but magical process of turning barley, water, and yeast into whisky. From here, you take a scenic drive to the shores of Loch Lomond for a tasty pub lunch and the chance to sample some local beers. After lunch we recommend a short walk to the viewpoint overlooking the loch before heading towards the second distillery of the day. Deanston Distillery* is a converted cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith that has many interesting features and produces some unique whisky flavours. After a relaxed afternoon here you return to Edinburgh with the stories and flavours of single malt whisky fresh in your mind. *Itinerary and distillery visits are subject to change.

Finally, relax on the return journey to Glasgow, where you arrive in the early evening.

It is situated overlooking the River Forth, at the meeting point between Lowlands and Highlands. Visit the Royal Palace of the castle and witness lavish decor from the 1500s. Continue to the Kelpies sculpture in Falkirk and marvel at the almost 100ft work created by Glaswegian Andy Scott. Learn about these mythical creatures that are said to be prevalent in Scottish waters, and who can cause a lot of havoc to unsuspecting locals with their shape-shifting abilities. Glengoyne is Scotland's most beautiful distillery, located just 14 miles from Glasgow where it has been producing award-winning Highland single malt whisky since 1833. Our Malt Master experience starts with an incredibly in-depth tour of the distillery. This is a chance for our Distillery Ambassadors to really share their knowledge of our unhurried ‘Glengoyne Way’. Then it gets extra special – you create your own single malt in the Sample Room. You cannot do this anywhere else in Scotland. The Malt Master plays a crucial role in making Glengoyne, balancing the flavours from different casks. You take on that role and displayed before you will be a selection of cask strength whiskies hand-selected from the Glengoyne warehouse. You’ll see the difference in colour immediately; between the American oak and European, and between the previous fill of sherry or bourbon. A taste of each, and you assume the role of the Malt Master straight away; adding a little from a bourbon cask here, bringing out a touch more sherry wood there. Like a true Malt Master, you’ll taste and tinker your way to a unique cask strength, un-chillfiltered Glengoyne Highland Single Malt. It’s a one-off creation, presented to you in a 200ml Glengoyne bottle with a record of your recipe. This experience is only suitable for adults aged 18-years and over. You’ll have the opportunity to tour the castle itself or stroll around Old Stirling, the ancient capital of Scotland. On your way to Loch Lomond you’ll see the famous highland cows, and pass a stunning landscape of lochs and mountains, reaching Loch Lomond at lunchtime. After lunch by the "bonnie banks," you’ll have the choice of a boat trip on the Loch or a short nature walk to a superb viewpoint over Scotland’s largest lake. You’ll finish the day at Glengoyne Distillery, situated in a wooded valley in the southern Highlands. The distillery, which takes its name from ‘Glen Guin’ or Glen of the Wild Geese, has been producing high quality single malt for nearly 200 years. You will, of course, have the opportunity to tour this beautifully located distillery and sample the delicious 10-year-old product for yourself!

It’s believed to have been besieged at least 16 times and changed hands many times during the Wars of Independence. Next, it's time for the tasty part of the tour, a deliciously smooth Highland Whisky Distillery. Your guide will take you over to Glengoyne Distillery where you will want to take a tour and learn all about “uisge beatha” Gaelic for “water of life”. Hear about the entire whisky-making process and even get to delight your taste buds with a wee dram or two, and you might even want to take home a bottle for a nightcap occasionally. So, after having a wonderful day tour and experiencing a diverse range of what Scotland has to offer, your guide will wish you farewell and take you back to Glasgow for you to continue your Great Scottish Adventure. Located in the famous Queen’s Dock, this exciting venue revives the tradition of whisky-making that was once a core industry in the city. You can visit their production site, see how the old blends with the new, and savour the light and delicate Lowland-style Single Malt Whisky. After a relaxed afternoon visit here you return to Buchanan Bus Station with the stories and flavours of single malt whisky fresh in your mind. *Itinerary and distillery visits are subject to change.

You will enjoy an in-depth tutored tasting of the finest whiskies from the Glengoyne Fine & Rare Collection, served in the Manager’s House at Glengoyne Distillery. This experience doesn't include a tour of the distillery, instead you'll go straight to sampling the highly limited Glengoyne 25-year-old and 30-year-old Highland Single Malt whiskies, plus a specially selected 'wild card' whisky from our shelf. Leave Glasgow Stirling Castle Stirling Castle is one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland, historically and architecturally. The castle sits high on a volcanic outcrop, guarding the lowest crossing point of the River Forth. There is a lot to be discovered and enjoyed in the castle. The William Wallace Monument Just a 8 minute drive from the Castle, this iconic monument is 220 feet high and sited on top of Abbey Craig hill above the fields, where in 1297, Wallace led his troops to victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge. There are 276 steps to the top, but its well worth the climb. Old Stirling Bridge A short drive from The Wallace Monument brings us to Stirling Bridge. The present Stirling Bridge was built in the 1400s replacing a succession of timber bridges. In 1297 William Wallace defeated Edward 1's forces at The Battle of Stirling Bridge. Today the bridge is one of the best medieval masonry arch bridges in Scotland. Stirling to Glasgow return route Our trip back is especially scenic with pretty villages, grand views with an optional stop available if you so chose. Glengoyne Distillery 45 minutes of scenic driving with the Highlands to our right and the Campsie Range of Hills on our left. Glengoyne Distillery has a number of tours available. Your itinerary can be adjusted if you want to take part in a tour, however, even without a tour it is still a great place for a stop, the picturesque buildings, the shop and the yard full of whisky casks provide a wonderful atmosphere.
