The southernmost point of Crete, with crystal clear, cold waters, turquoise in color, that penetrate directly into your soul. Bordered by pink fringed sand made of finely crushed shells, the Libyan Sea draws me into its spell, inviting me to enter, but I do so with timidity and gratitude, for this is a fairy-tale land, not for just any ordinary mortal. A gesture that should be made by all those responsible for the integrity of a country's nature and heritage, allowing tourists access with certain restrictions in order to preserve the wild beauty of the area. The road there seemed so short to me, because the landscapes are spectacular and the guide Dimitris shares the wisdom of his people with grace and many tips. Elos is a small village hidden like a little jewel among the chestnut-covered hills, where you are welcomed with great hospitality and where I bought olive oil and thyme honey. The food is delicious, of course, you are in Crete after all, but there it seems to be the most delicious.

Apart from the excursion program, which was quite satisfactory, the provision for lunch on the return trip was very appropriate. However, I must mention the incredibly energetic, knowledgeable, and tireless tour guide, who took care of everything with enthusiasm and kindness, even things that were beyond her duties. She made us feel like we were part of her family. She deserves a big round of applause and a big 'thank you'. Finally, I must emphasize the behavior of the driver: cheerful, polite, and above all, a very skilled driver on a really difficult route.

The guide was amazing and very informative. I have to praise the driver aswell, some of those twists and turns are not for the weak. It was a very enjoyable day, the sand is no where near as pink as shown in the pictures but is still a very pretty beach.
