Enjoy an exciting day's shore excursion from Ain Sokhna harbor to Cairo. Visit the fabled pyramids of Giza and marvel at the mysterious Sphinx. Be fascinated by the collection of the Egyptian Museum, and visit the Coptic Quarter, Masr el Qadima.
What to Expect
Start off your day in Giza with a pick-up at Ain Sokhna harbo by air-conditioned car. Your tour guide will take you to see the best of Cairo, from pyramids to museums to the famed Coptic Quarter of Cairo.
Included in this shore excursion are the pyramids of Giza, (the tombs of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure), which were named by the ancient Greeks as one of the 7 wonders of the world. Afterwards, visit the famous Sphinx, the mysterious half-lion, half-man who's ruled the sands of the Egyptian desert for more than 4,000 years.
Next, head to the Egyptian Museum, where the grave goods of the boy-king, Tutankhamen, are on display. Lunch will be taken in a carefully selected restaurant in Cairo, near the pyramids.
The last stop of the day is in Cairo's oldest quarter, Masr el Qadima, known as the Coptic quarter and the heart of Christian Egypt. It retains many churches from pre-Islamic times, of which 5 are famous "hanging churches," edifices that are raised up from ground level as if suspended from the heavens.
The rest of time is yours to explore the city on your own. Later, you'll be driven back to the Sokhna harbor, to board your ship.
