Full description
After your hotel pickup, get an introduction to the landscape and use of crampons for your glacier trekking adventure before seeing the incredible streams, small lagoons, gullies, crevasses and ice formations of the incredible glacier. The trekking is moderate. The ice surface over which you will walk is irregular, but firm and safe. You will receive information about the flora, fauna and general glaciology of the region and also about specific phenomena that occur on the Perito Moreno Glacier, including what can cause its rupture. After the walk, a stroll through the exuberant magallanic forest brings you back to the shelter, where visitors can have lunch overlooking an incredible view. Once lunch is finished, you’ll head back to the port, where a bus will be awaiting to take you back to the Glacier viewpoint and its footbridges before heading back to El Calafate.

This is a MUST DO while in El Calafate, unless you go in a cruise on Antarctica. It was an experience to remember for many years to come. We've been lucky to be a sunny day and the glacier was discovering itself for us. But you should be prepared for everything: sun, wind, rain and/or snow. Good walking shoes (not city shoes, the crampons will not stay on them), water proof and wind protection jackets and many layers as the weather changes. Sun cream is required before you start on the glacier and sun glasses, gloves and hat. Ice crampons will be provided. This is not a difficult activity, but it is not a flat walk. The guide will make many stops in the way, will explain bout the place, the glacier, answer questions and allocate time for pictures. There were 2 guides -depends on how large the group is. One lead and one that helped us on more difficult places. Backpacks were left at the shelters. Whisky and chocolates provided at the end of the tour. Professional guides.

We really liked the experience of walking around Perito Moreno! The guides are great, very attentive and friendly. Things explain very well. The guide who took us there was very nice and told us many things! If you ask him about anything else he also answers or informs you to give you the answer! A charm!!
