Full description

Enjoy an evening of whisky appreciation on a whisky-tasting experience on Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile. Taste four single malt scotch whiskies and enjoy storytelling from your guide.

Meet your guide on the iconic Royal Mile for a short walk to one of the supplier's outstanding whisky venues. Over the next two hours, drink 4 outstanding single malt scotch whiskies taken from the 4 major whisky-producing regions of Scotland.

Taste whiskies which range from the relatively delicate and subtle flavors of the Lowlands to the bold and robust tastes of Islay. You will also be given tasting cards giving notes on each of the whiskies that you sample. During the tour, experience some traditional storytelling and explore the significance of whisky to the Scottish identity. The entire upper floor of the venue is reserved, so there is plenty of space and privacy to conduct the story-orientated evening.

Well our taxi never came to pick us up at our hotel, front desk advised to walk and that it is only minutes away. Wrong! It took us about 1/2 an hour or so and we totally missed the meeting time. I wish the website said the whisky bar they would be walking to but it doesn’t. We asked around and finally found they were at The Waverly! I don’t recall our guides name because we missed the beginning but he was very kind. He seated us and poured our first glass which happened to be the glass he was talking about. From then out I enjoyed the experience! I would recommend !

Absolutely loved every minute of this! We tried so many different types of whiskey and learned so much about the history of the drink! Although the experience is 2 hours long which seems like a lot, time flies really quickly in the very cosy pub that the experience takes place in! And as for our tour guide, he was simply amazing - he had a great sense of humour and he taught us about the amazing history of whiskey in such an engaging and captivating way! 5 stars and so worth the money!

What a delightful experience this was! Highly recommend! Our guide John was a splendid raconteur and we thoroughly enjoyed the history of Whisky( made sure we spelt it right for John), the little folklores and personal story of our guide’s granny and the “two glass rule” of the hot toddy. The ambience of the historic room of Waverly and the interesting anecdotes were all great, along with the samples and their own history. Time and money well spent!
