What to Expect
Take a fantastic full-day tour to Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle and discover Scottish history at its most magnificent. You will travel in a small group of no more than 16 persons, allowing for a more personalized and intimate trip.
Depart Edinburgh at 09:15 and head northwest through historic Linlithgowshire, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Your route along the Forth Valley is one that has been used for thousands of years by invading armies, and was the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire.
As you approach Stirling, see the magnificent castle and make your way up the high volcanic rock. Known as the “Key to Scotland,” for centuries this was the most important castle in the land, and the views from the top make it easy to see why.
Soak up the history of Scotland’s battles and take in views of where the Scottish warrior-king Robert the Bruce defeated the English army of Edward II. Next, head into the Trossachs. Known as “The Highlands in Miniature,” this picturesque area is like traveling into a different country. Gaze at shimmering lochs, rugged mountain tops, and forest-filled glens. Stop for lunch in the village of Aberfoyle.
After lunch, head for beautiful Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest loch. Stop at Inversnaid or Balmaha and enjoy a walk along the bonny banks. Climb up to a viewpoint for fantastic panoramic vistas of Ben Lomond mountain.
Leaving Loch Lomond, return to Edinburgh, passing Scotland’s only “lake” – the Lake of Mentieth. You will be back in Edinburgh by approximately 18:00
