Full description

Spend a day experiencing the natural beauty of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park from Edinburgh. Enjoy a memorable visit to Stirling Castle, explore the pretty villages of Aberfoyle and Loch Lomond Shores, and set off on a spectacular cruise across Loch Lomond.

Departing Edinburgh, head to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, one of the prettiest and largest lochs in the whole of Scotland. Here you can enjoy an hour-long cruise taking in spectacular views of the loch’s many islands and the surrounding mountains.

Alternatively, take a stroll through the picturesque loch-side conservation village of Loch Lomond Shores, with its quaint houses, cafes, and stunning views across the loch’s western shoreline.

Enter The Trossachs National Park and experience its abundance of lochs, mountains, and forests. Continue on, past medieval Doune Castle, to the pretty town of Aberfoyle, situated on the banks of the River Teith in Stirlingshire, where you stop to enjoy some lunch.

Travel north-west for your last stop of the day at magnificent Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most historically significant castles, sitting high on volcanic rock and offering wonderful views of the surrounding landscape.

Visit the castle and learn of the exploits of key historical figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, and Mary Queen of Scots. Travel back to Edinburgh at the end of your tour.

Meeting point

Meet outside the green Ensign Ewart pub. There is currently a shortage of taxi and private hire cabs in Edinburgh, which may make it harder to get to the departure point if you're thinking of using a taxi. It is strongly recommended that you allow for more time to reach the departure point in the morning and look into public transport options as a backup.

Excellent trip! Guide was great, good knowledge of everywhere and a sense of humour! Didn’t feel rushed at all and got to easily see everything we wanted to. Top tip is to listen to the guides info about the Kelpies as there isn’t really any info on them at the site. Also, do the free tour at Stirling Castle if you can.

Beautiful scenery, very good guide who was very knowledgable and engaging about the history and the landscapes. The only thing I’d say is it’s not purely a Trossachs experience and if you’re hoping for a huge amount of time spent there you might be a bit disappointed. Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle are great, but it would’ve been nice to have a bit more time in the Trossachs themselves beyond a short-ish drive around them

our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable and at ease! he made sure we had plenty of time to fully enjoy each stop -- The Kelpies, Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle -- and he was very good at pointing out spots of interest along the way
