Full description
A charming day tour at a relaxed pace - discover the fishing villages of the “Kingdom of Fife” and enjoy plenty of free time to explore Scotland’s home of golf; the ancient town of St. Andrews. Leave Edinburgh with views of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge as you cross the Firth of Forth, entering into the ancient “Kingdom of Fife” passing through Aberdour before continuing into the East Neuk of Fife. You will then travel through the picturesque villages of St. Monans and Pittenween, once-thriving fishing centers which were made prosperous by trade with the continent, before stopping in the town of Anstruther, home of the Scottish Fisheries Museum. Leaving Anstruther, journey through Crail and then arrive in the beautiful medieval town of St. Andrews in time for lunch. Here you can enjoy a walk around the town which is famous as the home of golf and has the best-known golf course in the world. It also has an impressive cathedral and castle, now both ruined, and is home to Scotland’s oldest university - where Prince William met Kate Middleton; now the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and the Earl and Countess of Strathearn (their Scottish titles). You will have approximately three hours of free time to explore its medieval buildings and wonderful cobbled streets, as well as having time for lunch. Heading homewards you will travel across the Lomond hills, descending to Loch Leven (scene of Mary Queen of Scot’s imprisonment and escape) and on to the picturesque town of South Queensferry, where you will make a brief stop to admire magnificent views of the Forth Bridges before returning to Edinburgh.

It was absolutely gorgeous. Gary, our guide was quite knowledgeable, and also had a good sense of humor, he made us laugh. The tour itself was designed very well, as close to river and the sea as one could wish for. Thank you, getyourguide. I will definitely recommend you to my friends.

Lovely trip to St. Andrews and the fishing villages, plenty of stops for photo opportunities and refreshments. Great value for money, our guide (Eric from Berwick) was informative and engaging throughout and kept us entertained the whole of our Journey. On arriving at St Andrews we had 3 hours free time to take in this charming little village. We stopped off for lunch In the museum cafe which was lovely, we then had a stroll around the golf course and a wander through the shops and a little pit stop at a local bar to refuel before our Journey back to Edinburgh. All in all a great day was had by all and I look forward to returning to Edinburgh and will definitely book another trip.

Loved it. St Andrews is well with the trip and stops at Anstruther and Falkland were also great. We ended up having almost an hour at Falkland Palace that was quite beautiful. Our guide was very nice and very knowledgable entertaining, but maybe just a tad too self indulgent with personal humor. A little more history and local information along the way would have been preferred. Just a little. It's a long trip so I get filling it with a little humor, but... Bus was very comfortable. Appreciated having a USB port at the seat as I started the day with less than adequate charge, but brought my charger just in case.
