The tour was worthwhile. Galang, my guide, is still young but nevertheless would provide me with interesting information about the volcano and the surrounding area. Galang also answered my questions regarding javanese culture. We also had a lot of fun. He also took some great pictures of me at various locations on the mountain.

Full description

Start your tour with pickup from either Bali or Banyuwangi and take in the beautiful sunrise over Ijen Crater. For those traveling from Bali, start your tour in the evening by making your way to Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi. Once you have arrived at Ketapang Port, relax at the lounge before getting picked up by your team and continue to Ijen Volcano. For those traveling from Banyuwangi, enjoy pickup from your accommodations at 12:30 AM and travel to Ijen Volcano to start your hike. Take in the scenery during your 1.5-2-hour hike to the Ijen Crater viewpoint and admire the views from the top. If you are lucky, you can see the volcano's mystical blue fire (but not guarantee), which is a truly unique experience. Catch the sunrise over the largest acid lake on Java Island and appreciate the local miners carrying sulfur rock as part of their daily life to provide for their families. After exploring the volcano, trek down and back to the parking lot. For those staying in Banyuwangi, you will return to your hotel around 9:00 AM. Those traveling back to Bali will return to their accommodations in the afternoon.

We enjoyed it so much but all the more because our guide, Malik, was such an excellent guide. I’m glad Malik was our guide! He’s quite knowledgeable and really looks after our safety. He’s very fun to talk to and well-read who can strike up really good conversations. I’m really amazed with multilingual people - Malik is one and he has a fair knowledge too of Spanish and Italian. He is very passionate and so enthusiastic - worth a really good tip for Malik’s talent and overall management of the tour. Worth recommending to family and friends back home. I went on this tour with my parents (both already seniors) and we enjoyed it! Pro-tip for those who want to fully experience this hike, you must be physically active and doing regular exercise or daily walks will really help. There are trolley options though if necessary. Excellent tour overall! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
