Mission Beach: Beaver Cay and Dunk Island Snorkeling Cruise

QuickCoast's snorkelling adventures to the Great Barrier Reef from Mission Beach has a maximum of 50 people making us one of the smaller operators in terms of numbers. We are currently averaging 20-30 people at this current point in time. Our numbers make us an ideal option for groups and exclusive charters are a very real option. Beaver Reef is pristine, only just over an hour from the mainland or Dunk Island making it one of the fastest transfers to the Outer Reef. QuickCoast is the only sizable, comfortable catamaran that visits Beaver Reef. Because our numbers are small, our reef is widely regarded as one of the most untouched reefs thereby enhancing the experience for our travellers. QuickCoast's marine biologist who travels with us every day (with 10 or more passengers) gives a presentation on the way to the reef. There is an opportunity to experience a guided snorkel tour as an enhanced experience for our travellers You can also see Dunk Island Adventures as a transfer option to accommodation at Mission Beach while enjoying our tour, thereby offering Mission Beach as more than just a self-drive destination. Really enjoyed this snorkel experience away from the crowds. Saw a sea turtle, clownfish, rainbow trout and loads of schools of fish and different vibrant corals. A thing we didn't realise is that there is no travel to a different site after lunch - we explored a different side to the reef, which was still very enjoyable. I was well looked after as someone comfortable in the water but who needed to stick close to a life ring and guide due to swimming ability. No hidden cost for this either. All staff were welcoming and friendly, and the size of the boat allowed for me to easily talk to others and make friends as a solo traveller. By the time we got to Dunk Island we were knackered and it was hot, so be mindful that this won't fulfil the quota for a visit if Dunk island is equally something what you want to do. Thank you to everyone who made this an amazing bucket list trip 👏🏾👏🏾

As I solo traveler I found todays day trip really enjoyable. We got a nice introduction of the day and then we went to the reef, it was such a amazing experience. Beautiful fish and corals, we were lucky enough to see stingrays. The lunch was also good. The crew and captain were amazing! Very friendly and also very good at explaining how to snorkel, that was helpful for me as I have never snorkeled before. They found a shark and other fish for us to look at when we went snorkeling. The captain who was also our bus driver told us about some of the history about the sugar mills here in Cairns and about the mountains/rainforest. Also we had the reef to ourselves which was nice. It was a nice day. I would differently recommend going.😊

It was a great experience and that was not only due to the Great Barrier Reef, but also to Captain Bryan and the snorkeling guide Louis. They were super cool and really cared about the well-being of their guests. The two snorkeling tours were great and Louis explained a lot about the corals and fish. It was a really great experience and I absolutely recommend it.

Highly recommend this tour. We had a fantastic time at the outer reef. My wife is a non-swimmer and had never experienced snorkeling on the reef before until now. The skipper and crew were awesome.
