Dubrovnik: King's Landing and the Iron Throne Walking Tour

10. Dubrovnik: King's Landing and the Iron Throne Walking Tour

See why Dubrovnik was chosen as the filming location for King's Landing on a Game of Thrones themed tour of the city. In the show, Dubrovnik is the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, and it serves as the perfect setting for a captivating imaginary world. This tour will take you to Old Town, Lovrijenac (Red Keep), and Lokrum Island (City of Qarth). See where some of Game of Throne's most intense, plot-twisting moments were filmed. Then, board a ferry and visit Lokrum Island, which has been turned into a Game of Thrones visitor center. It's here that you can see the Iron Throne, gifted to Dubrovnik by HBO, and take a photo with it. The island is Dubrovnik's green jewel and many locals relax here after a long summer's day. Peacocks and bunnies are the island's only residents and they are very friendly. The tour finishes on the island and you can decide whether you'd like to return to Old Town or spend the rest of the day on the island. If you choose the latter, bring along your swim gear, a towel, and sunscreen to enjoy the beautiful rocky beaches. Keep in mind that all visitors must leave the island with the last ferry at the latest. Overnight stays are not allowed. The island is a protected forest reserve.

10/10 would recommend. Doris was an incredible tour guide/photographer/comedian, she was so knowledgeable about Dubrovniks history and Game of Thrones and beautifully intertwined them both throughout the tour. The tour brought us to the filming sites for Blackwater bay, the red keep and the shame steps as well as the gardens of Qarth finishing with the Iron throne. Though the tour is 3 hours, if you get the boat to Lokrum to see the gardens and throne, you can actually make a full day out of the Island of Lokrum with lovely Restaurants, beautiful gardens and really nice swimming spots. 100% worth a go if you’re into GoT and want to see/learn more about Dubrovnik!

Tour was amazing and the tour guide, Doris, was very friendly, informative and helpful. We included Lokrum in our tour where you sit on the only throne in Dubrovik made by HBO. Would definitely recommend doing the full tour. Lots of opportunities for photos. You have to pay extra for the boat trip to Lokrum and entrance to the Fort - if you buy a ticket to the city walls, or purchase a Dubrovnik card, you get the fort entrance included. We did the city walls the day before and kept our ticket for entrance to the fort during this tour. Take sea shoes to Lokrum and the beach!!!

If you love GOT then this is the tour for you! our tour guide Doris was amazing & very knowledgeable. she told us many facts about GOT & Dubrovnik alike. It was very interesting to hear how the scenes were filmed, how it went down with the local people & how the economy was affected due to filming. The places we visited were amazing & you could actually invisage the scene's being shot! we moved onto Lokrum Island, what a magical place to see full of wonder & beauty! From start to finish so worth it. Thanks for an excellent experience Doris!

Easy process to book and clear communication from beginning to end. Comfortable air conditioned bus. Organised tour leader and nice coffee stop. Perast, Lady of the Rock island and Kotor all great places but needed extra time on the island, only had 20 mins which was not enough time to visit the church properly. Cruise boat excellent and fantastic views, a must do.

This was a wonderful end to a day spent exploring Old Town Dubrovnik. Lukas was the perfect host, informative, entertaining and left us quiet time to enjoy the beauty of the coast as seen from the sea. A must do!!!
