Full description
The tour begins at the first light of the sun as you walk through a maze of narrow streets while the town is still sleeping. Departing from the main entrance gate next to Amerling Fountain, the first stop is for the magnificent view at Fort Lovrijenac where you’ll get an introduction to its rich history. The walk continues over the shiny main street Stradun that you can only see empty this early in the morning. Get a real feel for its beauty and hear about the many legends and curiosities to get a more picturesque presentation of the city’s history. Using side streets known mainly by the locals, the tour covers all the highlights of the city including St Blaise's Church and Dubrovnik Cathedral. Take the opportunity to experience the life of the citizens living in the Old Town before the tour finishes, just as the crowds start to emerge.

I would definitely recommend the early bird walking tour. The city is very peaceful and quiet during this time, allowing the group to walk freely and listen intently to the guide before the Old Town becomes busy later on in the day. I learnt a lot about Croatia and Dubrovnik’s history, whilst admiring the beautiful architecture within the city walls. It is a MUST do on anyone’s visit! Furthermore, our tour guide, Michaela, was very welcoming and inspiringly knowledgeable. She made our experience excellent!

+ The tour was nice, we were only 6 people. The tour guide was a very good story teller and has kindely answered all our questiones. - We have seen the higlights of the city (gate, main street Stradun, port, churches at the Stradun, town hall) from outside only (e.g. we did not enter any church) and we did not visit some parts of the city (e.g. the Jesuit church), although with some active group the guide could save time for this The tour gave us a general overview of the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia, including the Jugoslavia period) but sometimes it seemed too basic for me (but it can be very useful for people who have never visited Croatia before).

If you're an early bird, then this tour is a must-do. I was really lucky to have Mihaela as my guide, since she's a local. She's also very smart and into History and Politics, which made the tour even more interesting. She was able to share local stories and gave a good panorama of History and the daily routine in Dubrovnik. I would really recommend this tour.
