Full description
One of the best things about Croatia is the amazing cuisine – fresh fish, fragrant fruits, hearty stews. Join a fun traditional Croatian cooking class and learn the secrets of the local cuisine to take home to your family and friends. Spend the day at a typical country house on the outskirts of Dubrovnik, and enjoy a welcome drink as you arrive at the house and get equipped with all the tools and instructions you need for the cooking extravaganza. Once prepped, set out to make your delectable dish. The recipes, passed down by word of mouth from one generation to the next, are the most tried and tested in the region, and adored by the locals. They will vary according to the season and what is freshly available in the household garden, but on any given day, you can learn how to make anything from Dalmatian "peka" (lamb or veal baked under an iron bell), to "menestra" (cabbage and potato stew), to some homemade, Dalmatian-style bread. When your meals are finished, sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor over some local wine and an epic feast at the country estate.

This cooking really immerses you into the lifestyle of growing and preparing your own food on a regular basis in Croatia. You gather the ingredients for everything they have you help cook, and learn you only need simple ingredients in order to make food you will enjoy. The hosts are extremely friendly and provide an excellent experience. Would recommend to learn more about Croatian life and making your own fresh food.

Excellent experience with wonderful people. Recommended.

A great day. There were only the two of us on our cooking class which was fabulous. We were picked up at our apartment in Dubrovnik for the drive south to the family farm where the class was held. On the drive our wonderful driver provided a lot if info on the areas we were driving through including historical details from Roman to more recent events and current farming developments. Upon arrival we were welcomed by our delightful hosts as if we were friends dropping in for regular visit. We prepared our food in the kitchen talking and working with various family members who came and went. The farm come restaurant is mostly self sufficient growing almost all the food they need from eags, meat, vegetables, fruit, olives (they make their own olive oil) and grapes. And, yes they also make their own wine and spirits. Cheese is sourced from a cousin living nearby. The family proudly shared their history (they've been there since at least 1536) and how they maintain their way of life.

Wonderful experience

The trip to a farm and going through a typical day’s meals from their farm products was amazing. The typical breakfast of walnut liqueur, rose petal liqueur, myrtle liqueur, and grappa with quince and cheeses was so fun! Then participation in preparing lunch of lentil soup, stuffed peppers, zucchini and eggplant, our homemade bread, fruits and cheeses and fried donuts (a Christmas treat) was so fun and filling! We also walked the farm and learned about its self-sufficiency. It was a terrific experience!!
