The production company behind the Game of Thrones was inspired with its choice of Dubrovnik as the setting for King’s Landing, the capital city of Westeros. The Old Town is so striking that it seems to have leaped directly from the pages of George R.R. Martin’s addictive series of novels.
It is no surprise that Dubrovnik was also a capital city in its own right, of the now extinct Republic of Ragusa.
On this 2-hour tour, a specialist guide will take you to the parts of the Old City where some of the most memorable scenes from the ongoing HBO show were filmed. You’ll see the Pile Gate where King Joffrey was faced with a citizens’ riot and was pelted with dung, and the Lovrijenac Fortress where the unsuccessful attack on King's Landing (the Battle of Blackwater) took place.
From the Lovrijenac Fortress you’ll also see the seemingly endless fortified walls, where Tyrion Lannister and Varys took a stroll. This is where Tyrion uttered the immortal words: Where is the God of Tits and Wine?
