Full description
Travel through beautiful Kildare to historic Kilkenny on this full-day scenic tour from Dublin. Once the medieval capital of Ireland, Kilkenny boasts Ireland’s finest Norman castle and will also provide you with the chance to try a pint of Kilkenny beer in the city where it is produced! Enjoy some free time to shop for traditional Irish crafts at Kilkenny design shops, such as the one in the Kilkenny Design Centre, where you can purchase unique knitwear, pottery and glass. Continue to the monastic city of St. Kevin at Glendalough, best known for the wedding scenes in the blockbuster movie “Braveheart” and famous as the location for the film “PS I Love You.” Sparkling lakes, dense forests and babbling brooks make this a spectacular scenic drive, and a fine day out from the big city. Plus, as an added bonus, you will go to the megalithic portal tomb of Brownshill Dolmen for a sneak peak at how ancient Irish ancestors buried their dead and celebrated their passage into the next world.

The tour was absolutely amazing. What a scenic drive. We had enough time in Glendalogh to hike up to both lakes. It’s worth the efforts to walk up to the second lake. This place is just stunning. Kilkenny was very charming. There you will also get enough free time to get some lunch and explore the town. Our driver was excellent. He always gave information along the route. Only uncomfortable thing was that the meeting point changed from Gresham Hotel to Molly Malone’s statue. No reason was provided and not really convenient for us to get there. Since we were the 2nd group to be picked-up, no chance to pick good seats since most of them were already taken.

very pleasant short trip. very friendly driver obviously but my english is too bad to understand him. So I took advantage of the landscapes without understanding the explanations of the driver but I was expecting it. really great landscapes. .. Irish! stop in kilkeny a bit long. I would have preferred an additional walk in the mountains. But I'm very happy with this release. hiking shoes not essential.
