Discover the best of Northern Ireland on a 3-day budget tour from Dublin. Go beyond the headlines of the 30-year "Troubles," and see spectacular landscapes, such as the glens of Antrim, the Giant’s Causeway, the monastery of Monasterboice, and more.
What to Expect
Travel beyond the headlines of Northern Ireland’s notorious “Troubles” and discover a land of spectacular natural wonders as you explore the wild Atlantic coast, see the stunning steps of the Giant’s Causeway, go to the battlefields of the Battle of the Boyne, and much more.

Choose from a backpacker’s budget option, staying in shared dormitory style hostel accommodation, or choose an en suite room at a budget hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation if you would prefer a bit more privacy.

Learn about the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 that brought the peace process to an end, and see evidence of the 30-year conflict at the Bloody Sunday Murals in Derry. Take a tour of Belfast, now classed as one of the top 10 cities in the world by Lonely Planet, and meet fun-loving local characters from both the Ulster-Irish and Ulster-British communities along the way.

Day 1: Dublin - Belfast
Depart Dublin for the capital of Northern Ireland, stopping on route at the beautiful city of Drogheda. Go to the Cathedral of St. Peter’s to see the preserved head of St. Oliver Plunkett (executed in 1681). Continue to the ancient Celtic-Christian Monastery of Monasterboice, and marvel at the ruins in the idyllic countryside. Gaze in awe at the 10th-century Celtic High Crosses, used by the monks to tell biblical stories. Head into Belfast city center for a tour of City Hall, Queens University, and the Titanic Shipyards. See the new Titanic Experience building, built where the fated ocean liner was launched.

Take an optional "Black Taxi Tour" through areas most affected by the “Troubles.” Check into your downtown accommodation in the Queens University District, and get ready for a fun party night in one of Ireland's liveliest cities.

Day 2: Belfast - Giant's Causeway - Derry
Experience Ireland’s number one drive on a touring tour from Belfast to the Giant’s Causeway. Stop to take photos of Dunluce Castle (the ancestral fortress of the McDonnell Clan) along the way. Soak up the eerie atmosphere of Northern Ireland’s most romantic and haunting landscape. Then, continue to the Giant's Causeway to see the 60,000 columns of basalt volcanic rock that stretch up to the sky in perfect hexagonal shapes. Learn how the Celtic giant, Finn McCool fought off Scottish giants from across the water.

Take a scenic hike to the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, and look across the water to “Bonnie Scotland.” Transfer to Derry for a walking tour of one of Ireland’s most historic cities. Learn about Bloody Sunday, and the scene of some of the worst violence of the “Troubles.” Check into your accommodation in the city center, and get ready for a huge night of Irish music in the lively town.

Day 3: Return to Dublin
Following breakfast at your hotel or hostel, take a scenic drive across the border of Northern Ireland and Eire. See more of the stunning landscapes of the North West before your arrival in Dublin in time for dinner.
