Full description

Explore the Dubai desert after the sun has set and the temperture has cooled. Watch the desert come alive with nocturnal animals, and gaze at a sky filled with stars. You will travel to the desert by vintage 1950s Land Rover. Then, using torches, explore the extraordinary desertscape after dark. Even day time animals can emerge from their hideouts to drink, forage, and frolic after the heat of the day. Experience the quiet desert atmosphere and fresh desert air, in sharp contrast to the bright lights, intense heat, and loud noise of Dubai city center. After your nature safari, relax at an open-air camp belonging to a local royal family. Enjoy the cool desert air under a blanket of stars, as a three-course dinner and drinks are served. You will also get the chance to try an aromatic shisha pipe for a truly authentic Arabic experience. The evening ends perfectly when you're taken on a journey through the galaxies and hear tales about the starry sky and how the Bedouin used it to find their way.

Know before you go

  • The approximate pickup time is between 5:30 and 6:30 PM, depending on the season. The exact time will be communicated around noon on the day of the tour.
  • Due to health concerns, the wildlife drive is not recommended for pregnant guests within their third trimester
  • Long pants and closed shoes are highly recommended, and warm clothing during the as the temperature drops after sunset.
  • Bathrooms facilities are available throughout the tour.
  • A portion of your desert safari fee is contributed towards local conservation.
  • This is on a private car basis, however the camp is shared with other guests during dinner and the astronomy session.
  • The Vintage Land Rover vehicle can accommodate up to a maximum of 9 passengers.

E’ stata una serata magica. Io e mia moglie ci siamo sentiti coccolati dall’inizio alla fine. Siamo stati piacevolmente sorpresi dalla gentilezza e dall’entusiasmo delle persone dello staff. E’ stato meraviglioso poter camminare di notte nel deserto alla ricerca degli animali notturni (ovviamente sempre in compagnia della nostra guida) e assaporare il gusto dell’avventura. Come è stata una piacevole sorpresa la cena: un mix di sapori semplici e autentici ma che sanno lasciare il segno. E che dire della guida naturalistica e dell’astronomo con il quale abbiamo condiviso l’osservazione delle stelle (nel nostro caso siamo stati un po’ penalizzati dalla luna quasi piena però in compenso ci siamo portati a casa una meravigliosa foto della luna fatta dal telescopio). Bravi davvero! Lo consiglio vivamente: oltre le aspettative!

Our guide, Houston, from Kenya is a gem of a guy. He made this activity very memorable for my family - especially my children, 7 & 12 years old. He related useful information about the interesting places we passed by during the ride there, which made us more aware as first time visitors to Dubai. On learning that my daughter was interested to ride a camel, he made the effort to reach out to his colleagues and fix up one, at a nearby camp which was definitely a big highlight for my entire family. His enthusiasm, wisdom and positivity radiates through his desert walk where he actively kept a watch out for animals and it paid off - scorpions, gerbils, Arabian oryx, dung beetles, ants, desert gecko plus our desert eagle owl which was part of the package. The food tasted at the camp tasted so good and Eddy our astronomer is such a funny guy! He is an obvious expert who patiently broke it down for the layman and the kids and made the sky come alive with his stories - really love it so much!

A first class experience. The 1950s open top Land Rover was great fun. We were unsuccessful in finding much wildlife as there was a full moon and the little critters went into hiding. The stargazing was amazing though. Eddie the Aussie was so knowledgable and entertaining. Can thoroughly recommend.
