Full description
Taste traditional Emirati food, and learn more about life in the United Arab Emirates at a 1.5-hour cultural breakfast at the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) in Dubai. Located in a traditional wind tower house in the Al Bastakiya trading village of the Al Fahidi Historic District, the SMCCU was set up to raise awareness and demystify the local culture and customs of the United Arab Emirates. With an objective to improve cross-cultural understanding and communication between locals and guests, you will learn more about local life through award-winning cultural programs. Sample authentic Emirati dishes while chatting with your host about the traditions of the UAE. Sit in the courtyard of the SMCCU on traditional floor cushions. Taste Arabic coffee and dates, along with a variety of local dishes, including dessert. Ask your host or hostess any questions you have, following the SMCCU motto of “Open Doors, Open Mind.” Each experience is as unique as the questions you might want answers to. Highly recommended. Learned a lot about Emirati culture.

We were a little late as arrived via metro and taxi. Taxi driver unsure of location even though we had address in english and Arabic (driver may have been from a different ethnic background?). Would be good if clear instruction how to get to the cultural centre via metro and walking... thanks.

It was a delicious lecture on my stomach and head.

The staff will explain Dubai's food and clothing while surrounding a buffet breakfast in the hall. In the second half, the staff answered the questions from the participants. The topic this time is about the reality of Arab marriage (and divorce), romance, and polygamy. The staff sometimes jokes, sometimes real experiences? He explained in an easy-to-understand manner. It was a "delicious" time in many ways.

      Highly recommended ;-)

A very nice experience - especially the food offered to the guests. Two kind ladies from the Emirates (or sometimes the director Mr Serkal) answer your questions with a good sense of humour. Interesting to learn what to do if you are a young man and want to marry a girl you like. In Europe or US, you buy a ring and ask her - learn the whole procedure while enjoying tasty (not hot) food, coffee and dates. Have fun!
