Full description
Discover a fascinating aquatic world with a day admission ticket to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. The 10-million-liter tank is home to more than 33,000 aquatic animals, comprising over 140 species. There are more than 300 sharks and rays living in the tank, including the world’s largest collection of sand tiger sharks. Just above the aquarium is the Underwater Zoo. Get up close to penguins, piranhas, seahorses, jellyfish and more. Step inside the Submersible Simulator for a virtual adventure among dugongs, whale sharks and many other sea creatures. The Underwater Zoo provides an interactive approach to educating children and visitors on the ecology and sustainability of marine life. The journey consists of three ecological zones: Rainforest, Rocky Shore, and Living Ocean. The Penguin encounter allows you to get face to face with a colony of 16 Gentoo penguins residing at the new Penguin Cove exhibit along with a zookeeper. This exciting encounter starts with an educational video about the incredible Antarctic birds and their original habitat. Next, visitors get to meet the Gentoo Penguins, enjoy exceptional photo opportunities, and experience up-close penguin interaction.

An aquarium in a mall is of course not something you see every day and causes crowds in front of the entrance area, since many sea creatures can already be observed from the outside for free. From my point of view, the animals, especially the penguins and crocodiles, should have more space. To me, that all seems very cramped and insufficient. There is a deduction for that.

As already written in other reviews, you can see the aquarium from the outside. For us it was still a nice event and of course you see a lot more when you go in. The small aquariums with fish and the large enclosure with the two crocodiles were also quite nice. You can see penguins, but it's rather unspectacular. We slowly looked at everything and took 1 hour 45 min. Queuing to come in only 5 min.

All in all the experience was good. Only we had a small problem. We had booked the visit to the aquarium and the penguin bay. At first they didn't want to let us into the Penguin Bay because we had supposedly not booked it. But then we were able to clear that up and we could also look at the penguins.
