Full description
Enjoy a fascinating historical excursion in Dubai. The route takes you from Dubai’s landmark hotel, Burj Al Arab, to Majlis Ghorfat Umm Al Sheif, a magnificent structure built in 1955 and recently restored. The Majlis was originally the summer residence of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Then drive past modern palaces, and stop at the Jumeirah Mosque for a photo opportunity. Continue on to the cultural district of Al Fahidi Cultural district to admire the old wind-tower houses built by wealthy merchants, passing the magnificent Zabeel Palace on the way. Visit Al Fahidi Fort, a 200-year-old structure that houses the Dubai Museum and records the city’s past as an important pearl diving and trading center. Float across Dubai Creek on a traditional abra boat, admiring stunning views of the modern metropolis with splendid architecture on its banks. End the tour by exploring the gold and spice souks (markets).

    An interesting and varied trip

I booked this mainly for my daughter and her 11 year old son, although I went as well despite having done it 2014. When we were collected from our hotel it became obvious that this trip was not the one I had booked as most of it was focussed on modern Dubai. As my family had not been to Dubai previously, they enjoyed it and I saw things I had not seen on the previous trip, so itwas not a complete disaster. However, I was disappointed that my daughter and grandson did not experience the traditional souks and that the museum visit was conducted by the guide in a rushed manner - no time to spend looking at what interested us and couldn't avoid the things that didn't. Also disappointed that we only did a brief drive-through of the Bastakia Quarter and did not get to cross Dubai Creek on an abra. The trip we did was excellent in its own right but it was not what we had booked. Also, getting confirmation of the pick up time from the hotel was a nightmare. Local agent was not answering phone

Good tour and excellent tour guide, but needs more time.

The tour was quite interesting, and the tour guide was quite knowledgable. It would have been nice to be able to actually go into a mosque rather than visit the outside of one. Also the Dubai museum visit requires at least 1hr 30mins. Overall a good way to see Dubai and learn about its history.

    Good and interesting tour.

Good tour with knowledgeable guide, but things went wrong at the last item (the Gold Souk), as nobody showed up at the indicated meeting point. The group had apparently disbanded and the guide gone home (I suppose). I took a taxi and went back to my hotel, which was the most efficient thing to do after all.
