Your first day will be dedicated to exploring the city of Porto (Oporto). Walk around the city center and past the Lello Bookstore with its famous staircase, known for its link to the Harry Potter series. Another attraction you will visit is Sao Bento’s train station, where 20 thousand tiles from Portuguese artist Jorge Colaco will take you on a virtual trip through Portugal over the centuries. The next day, you will head to Portugal's first capital and visit the Guimaraes Castle, followed by São Miguel Church, and Paço dos Duques de Bragança. Go to the cathedral and to the Bom Jesus Sanctuary, where you can see the Bom Jesus Elevator - the only water powered elevator still in use. On the third day, you will explore the beautiful Douro Valley. Stroll through the historic center of Amarante, walking through its ancient streets. Visit the lovely Pinhao Railway Station, built in the Nineteenth Century, its tiles represent the landscape and the life of the people in the region. Of course your visit to the oldest wine region in the world must include a visit to a local winery, where you will be shown the different aspects of winemaking and also taste some of the best wines in the world.
